About the Role

Plan, coordinate, and execute field environmental remediation and civil construction activities to ensure that goals and objectives of the projects are accomplished within planned scopes, schedules, and budgets. Lead the development and implementation of procedures and programs, ensuring they minimize risks and maintain compliance with regulatory requirements.

This is an in-person position at our Martinez, Ca office when not on a job site.

What You'll Do

  • Manage environmental construction projects, including technical and craft personnel.
  • Develop and maintain baseline budgets and schedules for assigned projects. 
  • Cost estimating and review of project plans and specifications to support proposals; project schedules using MS Project and Cost Tracking applications.
  • Author technical approaches, work planning and completion reports.
  • Forecast project work on existing contracts.
  • Report to supervisor on project status. 
  • Review project operations to meet project schedules, scopes and budgets.
  • Supervise employees; assign, direct, and evaluate their work; and oversee development of staff. 
  • Prepare budgets and negotiate contracts. 

What You Bring

  • Bachelor's degree (B.S.) from a 4-year college or university or equivalent experience. 
  • Minimum 8 years of industry-related experience. 
  • Proven leadership in bidding and executing environmental construction projects. 
  • Experience managing projects for federal clients (USACE/Department of Defense or other federal agencies)
  • Strong communication skills, both verbal and written, with previous involvement in preparing project proposals, submittals, RFIs and close-out documentation. 
  • Ability to effectively interact with clients, regulatory agencies, field operations, technical staff and subcontractors.
  • Knowledge of MS Word Office Suite Products.
  • Current 40hr HAZWOPER or 8hr Refresher certification and provide certificate of completion prior to the first day of employment.
  • Ability to travel up to 25%-50% of the time to project sites which may be in remote locations. 

Nice to Have

  • Degree in Civil Engineering or Construction Management preferred.
  • Professional Certification (PE, PMP, and/or CCM).
  • USACE/Department of Defense (DoD) or other federal contracts experience.

California Salary Range

$110,000 - $150,000 USD

Requirements

Must Haves (Non‑negotiable)

  • Boots-on-ground remediation experience
    • Actual field execution, not just oversight
    • Experience running remediation or environmental construction jobs
    • Ability to read specs/scopes and make real-time field decisions
    • ERRG emphasized: “They have enough consulting experience but not enough on the job experience.”
  • Federal project experience
    • USACE, DOE, DOD, or other federal clients
    • Understanding of federal compliance, reporting, and documentation
    • ERRG is doing DOE/DOD work (Berkeley Lab, rad-impacted demo, fume hood removal)
  • Strong communication + initiative
    • High-touch communication with field crews, clients, and regulatory agencies
    • Ability to “take things and run with it”
    • ERRG said: “Drive, initiative, and communication are more important than anything.”
  • Project Management fundamentals
    • Budgeting, scheduling (MS Project), cost tracking
    • Proposal support, RFIs, submittals, close-out documentation
    • Forecasting work on existing contracts
  • 40hr HAZWOPER (or ability to obtain immediately)
    • Required for field presence
    • Must provide certificate before first day (per JD)
  • Local to Martinez (≤1 hour commute)
    • Janys: “Doesn’t want anyone commuting over 1 hour.”
  • In-person availability
    • ERRG is an in-person culture
    • PM must be in the Martinez office when not on job sites
  • 8+ years environmental construction / remediation experience
    • JD requirement
    • Equivalent experience acceptable if field-heavy

    • They understand both sides of remediation (design + execution)
  • Experience bidding work
    • Not required, but ERRG values PMs who can support estimating
    • Helps reduce reliance on subbing out work
  • Lead abatement experience
    • ERRG does significant lead demo/soil work
    • “Lead experience would be a huge plus.”
  • Business development mindset
    • Not required, but a bonus
    • Ability to identify opportunities on federal sites
  • Experience with DOE/DOD facilities
    • Berkeley Lab
    • Power plants
    • Large federal facilities
  • Experience supervising craft labor
    • ERRG PMs manage both technical and craft personnel
    • Foreman-to-PM transitions can be strong fits
