This position may be filled as an Engineering Technologist III or one level higher as a Senior Engineering Technologist dependent upon the experience level of the selected candidate.

This is the third/fourth level of the non-Engineer degreed technical support role job classification and considered the career level for the job hierarchy. Technologist III and Senior Engineering Technologist both provide technical expertise to solve more complex problems, and leadership skills to manage work in a specific area of expertise, with minimal supervision. Incumbents are expected to develop advanced skills and to have the ability to work independently with increased latitude for unreviewed work.

Job Responsibilities

  • Provides subject matter technical expertise and guidance in the identification, analysis and resolution of problems in area of expertise.

  • Work within a team environment and collaborates across multiple work groups to accomplish common goals.

  • Ensures accomplishment of business goals and objectives through effective planning, organizing, estimating, scheduling and monitoring of work activities.

  • Independently reviews and prepares thorough and accurate technical reports, correspondence, documentation, calculations and sketches.

  • Conducts engineering and related studies.

  • Strives to continually improve job-related, technical and professional knowledge, skills and performance.

  • Develops positive working relationships to effectively coordinate work activities. Demonstrates effective oral and written communication skills. Maintains accurate records and files.

  • Supports the company's goals and represents the company positively and professionally.

  • Coaches and mentors other Engineering Technologists and Engineers.

Basic/Required Qualifications - Engineering Technologist III

Either 2+ years of relevant industry experience coupled with a Bachelor of Science in Engineering or Engineering Technology, or 4+ years of experience and Associate Degree in Engineering or Engineering Technology, or 6+ years equivalent experience without a degree

Basic/Required Qualifications - Senior Engineering Technologist

Either 4+ years of relevant industry experience coupled with a Bachelor of Science in Engineering or Engineering Technology, or 6+ years of experience and Associate Degree in Engineering or Engineering Technology, or 8+ years equivalent experience without a degree

Additional Preferred Qualifications

  • Good written and oral communication skills.

  • Experience with AutoCAD Electrical (ACADE) to create schematics and templates for standards and capital project support.

  • Experience in the utility industry.

  • Experience with Maximo and/or TIM to develop and support items and Compatible Units (CUs).

  • Ability to address change requests by the production teams.
