PRETIUM
Pretium is a specialized investment firm focused on U.S. residential real estate, residential credit, and corporate credit. Pretium was founded in 2012 to capitalize on investment and lending opportunities arising as a result of structural changes, disruptions, and inefficiencies within the economy. Pretium has built an integrated analytical and operational ecosystem within the U.S. housing, residential credit, and corporate credit markets, and believes that its insight and experience within these markets create a strategic advantage over other investment managers. Pretium’s platform has more than $57 billion of assets, comprising real estate investments across nearly 90 markets in the U.S., and employs approximately 7,000 people across 50 offices, including its New York headquarters, Miami, London, Seoul, and Sydney.
MISSION
Support the engineering team's delivery rhythm — issue hygiene, QA, release tracking, and the reporting cadence that keeps leadership and OpCos informed — so the team ships predictably and no one has to chase status. This role is the foundation for a career in engineering project management, with direct exposure to how a modern AI and data platform is built and shipped.
MANDATE PILLARS
|
01 Engineering Process & Delivery Project and issue hygiene, SDLC process discipline, QA testing, prod/dev promotion management, and triage of bugs and feature requests submitted to Prism. |
02 Release & Roadmap Management Supports Surge planning, materials prep, and feature release management. Tracks and reports on the FDE roadmap — visibility and status, not authorship or prioritization. |
03 Reporting & Transparency Weekly dev notes, reporting materials, meeting operations, and the recurring transparency deck to C-suite and OpCos, plus the AI newsletter. |
RESPONSIBILITIES
|
ENGINEERING PROCESS & DELIVERY • Own cleanliness and structure of all project tracking — every issue properly labeled, assigned, prioritized, and current at all times • Manage the prod/dev promotion pipeline — own the process for tracking, approving, and coordinating promotions to production as the firm formalizes its prod/dev split • Maintain SDLC process documentation — sprint cadences, definition of done, release checklists, and escalation paths • Flag blockers, stale issues, and scope creep to the appropriate engineering or product lead before they become delivery risks ◦ No priority-setting authority over the backlog — hygiene and process only; escalate prioritization calls to the team lead
|
QA & PRODUCT VALIDATION
• Own QA for Prism and other products before release — systematically testing for number mismatches, broken links, math errors, and UI inconsistencies • Serve as the first point of contact for Prism feature requests and bug reports — triage, log, and route to the correct engineer or product owner • Communicate status updates back to end users — setting expectations on timelines and closing the loop when issues are resolved • Identify patterns in bug reports and feature requests and surface recurring themes to product leadership |
|
FDE ROADMAPS & SURGE PLANNING • Maintain FDE roadmaps across active workstreams — tracking sprint commitments, milestone dates, and delivery status • Take point on materials prep for Surges and other presentations — compiling decks, pre-reads, and supporting assets ahead of key events • Support Surge event planning — coordinating logistics, pre-work, deliverable tracking, and post-surge action item follow-through • Produce sprint and roadmap status summaries for CDAO and senior stakeholder consumption ◦ Pure tracking role on the roadmap — no authorship or prioritization of roadmap content |
REPORTING & TRANSPARENCY
• Draft the weekly dev notes — summarizing engineering progress, releases, and key decisions across all active workstreams • Own the weekly reporting materials — compile sprint updates, roadmap status, and key metrics into a consistent format for team and leadership review • Support production of the recurring transparency deck to C-suite and OpCos — keeping messaging consistent across all reporting channels • Assist with the AI newsletter — content gathering, cadence, and distribution across the firm • Maintain the team's calendar of recurring calls with structured pre-meeting prep and post-meeting action tracking |
COMPETENCIES
|
AREA |
WHAT WE'RE LOOKING FOR |
|
Organizational Rigor |
Instinctively structured — keeps systems clean, tracks details without being asked, and treats process discipline as a professional standard, not a burden. |
|
SDLC & Release Process |
Engineering degree with genuine interest in how software gets built and shipped. Understands the SDLC end to end — comfortable with release management, prod/dev promotion, and Surge/capacity planning basics. |
|
QA & Attention to Detail |
Methodical approach to product validation — catches number mismatches, broken links, and math errors before they reach end users. Takes pride in shipping clean. |
|
Roadmap Reporting |
Able to synthesize status across a roadmap into clear, accurate reporting for non-technical stakeholders. Produces polished materials fit for C-suite and OpCo audiences. |
|
Communication |
Clear and direct written communicator. Comfortable interfacing with end users on bug and feature status, and translating engineering updates into plain language for senior leadership. |
|
Judgment & Reliability |
Operates with process discipline in a coordination role. Escalates with a proposed solution, not just a flag. Builds credibility through reliability and follow-through, not org chart position. |
CAREER DEVELOPMENT
|
Year 1 Own the team's project hygiene, QA, and operating rhythm end-to-end. Deep exposure to how an AI and data platform is built — sprints, releases, FDE deployments, and Surge events from the inside. |
|
Year 2 Take on independent project management ownership of a defined workstream or FDE. Begin developing proficiency in SDLC methodology and stakeholder management as a practitioner, not just a coordinator. |
|
Year 3 Pathway to Associate or full Engineering Project Manager — owning end-to-end delivery of product and platform initiatives, potentially anchoring a central ops function as the team scales. |
YEAR 1 SUCCESS METRICS
|
Project Hygiene Zero stale, unassigned, or mislabeled issues across active projects at any given time |
QA Coverage All releases pass structured QA before promotion — zero number or math errors reaching end users |
Bug Loop Closure Every Prism bug and feature request acknowledged and routed within 24 hours |
|
Dev Notes Cadence Weekly dev notes drafted and distributed on time, every week |
Meeting Readiness Agendas and pre-reads consistently ready ahead of every recurring meeting |
Newsletter Cadence AI newsletter ships reliably on a predictable, agreed-upon schedule |
