Engineer Sr, Quality – Manufacturing QA

Location: Lumentum Thailand, Navanakorn – Pathum Thani

Position Summary

We are seeking an experienced Senior Quality Engineer to ensure product and process quality within Lumentum’s optical and photonic manufacturing operations. This role partners with Manufacturing, Process Engineering, Product Engineering, NPI, and Supplier Quality teams to prevent quality risks, resolve production issues, and drive sustainable improvements in yield, quality, and manufacturing performance.

Key Responsibilities

Manufacturing Quality Assurance

  • Support manufacturing-quality performance for assigned products or production areas.

  • Monitor defects, yield loss, scrap, rework, process capability, and quality escapes.

  • Ensure production processes comply with control plans, work instructions, specifications, and quality requirements.

  • Review manufacturing and traceability records for accuracy and compliance.

  • Define or improve inspection methods, sampling plans, acceptance criteria, and process controls.

  • Manage nonconforming products and support Material Review Board disposition.

Problem Resolution & Improvement

  • Lead investigations into product, process, material, and workmanship issues.

  • Drive containment, root-cause analysis, corrective and preventive actions, and effectiveness verification.

  • Use 8D, CAPA, PFMEA, SPC, MSA, and other quality tools to prevent recurrence.

  • Lead improvement activities to reduce defects, variation, scrap, rework, and cost of poor quality.

  • Provide quality guidance and technical support to production teams.

NPI & Change Management

  • Support quality readiness for NPI, product transfer, qualification, and production ramp-up.

  • Ensure PFMEA, control plans, inspection methods, traceability, and quality documentation are ready before production release.

  • Review engineering, material, equipment, and process changes to ensure quality risks are properly controlled.

Quality Systems & Compliance

  • Ensure compliance with company quality systems, customer requirements, and applicable ISO standards.

  • Support internal, customer, and external audits.

  • Follow up and drive corrective actions to timely and effective closure.

  • Promote strong manufacturing discipline, quality ownership, and continuous improvement.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree or higher in Engineering, Materials Science, Physics, Applied Science, or a related field.

  • At least five years of experience in manufacturing quality assurance or quality engineering.

  • Experience in optical, photonic, semiconductor, electronics, or high-technology manufacturing is preferred.

  • Good knowledge of 8D, RCA, CAPA, PFMEA, control plans, SPC, MSA, and statistical analysis.

  • Experience with manufacturing nonconformance, audits, NPI, process validation, and engineering changes.

  • Good understanding of ISO 9001 or comparable quality-management systems.

  • Strong analytical, problem-solving, communication, and cross-functional collaboration skills.

  • Good command of written and spoken English.

Working Conditions

  • Work in office, quality laboratory, cleanroom, and manufacturing-floor environments.

  • Occasional support outside normal working hours may be required for urgent manufacturing-quality issues.
