Position: Engineer Principal, Manufacturing Product
Location: Lumentum Thailand, Navanakorn – Pathum Thani
Position Summary
We are seeking an experienced Principal Manufacturing Product Engineer to provide technical leadership and drive product-engineering excellence for Cloud products. This role serves as the senior technical owner for assigned products, partnering with Manufacturing, R&D, Process Engineering, Quality, and NPI teams to ensure product designs are manufacturable, scalable, reliable, and capable of meeting performance, quality, delivery, and cost objectives throughout the product lifecycle.
Key Responsibilities
Product Ownership & Technical Leadership
Serve as the principal Product Engineer for assigned Cloud products.
Own product definition, technical performance, manufacturing readiness, and lifecycle execution.
Act as the primary technical interface between Manufacturing, R&D, and global engineering teams.
Lead resolution of complex product, manufacturing, and field-quality issues.
Provide technical direction, risk assessment, and data-driven recommendations to stakeholders.
Mentor engineers and strengthen product-engineering capability within the organization.
Product Industrialization & NPI
Lead product industrialization from development through volume production.
Drive product-engineering activities for NPI, product transfer, qualification, and production ramp-up.
Ensure BOMs, drawings, specifications, product configurations, and documentation are accurate and production-ready.
Lead DfX reviews, including Design for Manufacturability, Assembly, Test, Reliability, and Cost.
Ensure product and manufacturing risks are identified and controlled before release.
Yield, Quality & Cost Excellence
Drive improvements in product yield, performance, quality, reliability, and manufacturing cost.
Lead root-cause investigations and corrective actions for complex manufacturing and field issues.
Identify product-optimization and cost-reduction opportunities through design, material, and engineering changes.
Review product data and technical trends to prevent recurring issues and improve product maturity.
Cross-functional & Global Collaboration
Lead alignment across Manufacturing, R&D, Process Engineering, Quality, NPI, Supply Chain, and global teams.
Communicate technical status, risks, priorities, and improvement plans to senior stakeholders.
Influence technical decisions and ensure timely execution of product-related actions.
Support product and manufacturing strategies aligned with business priorities.
Safety, Health & Environmental Responsibilities
Comply with all EHS policies, procedures, and standards.
Promote safe work practices and support continuous improvement toward a Zero Accident culture.
Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in Electrical, Mechanical, Optical, Manufacturing Engineering, Physics, or a related field; a master’s degree is preferred.
At least 12 years of experience in product engineering, manufacturing engineering, or a related technical role.
Extensive experience supporting NPI, product transfer, volume ramp, and sustaining engineering.
Strong understanding of product lifecycle management, configuration control, DfX, qualification, and engineering-change management.
Experience in optical, photonic, semiconductor, electronics, or other high-technology manufacturing is strongly preferred.
Proven ability to lead complex technical investigations and influence cross-functional decisions.
Strong analytical, technical leadership, problem-solving, and stakeholder-management skills.
Effective English communication and ability to work with global teams.
