For more than a century, the independent, not-for-profit mission of UNC Health Blue Ridge–Morganton (formerly Grace Hospital) has remained faithful to its goal: to provide advanced, affordable healthcare for the residents of Burke County.

• 24 hours a day, 7 days a week
• 29 Bed Emergency Room
• Trauma - Level 3 Trauma Center
• Volume ~32,000 annually
• Staffing: (Physicians/ APP's) Combined Morganton/Valdese - 12 Docs and 8 APPs
• Shifts/Schedule: 3 - 10 hour app shifts/day
• Acuity: 22% Admission rate
• Coverage model: Combined Physician and APP coverage 
• Subspecialty support:  Comprehensive subspecialty support

UNC Health Blue Ridge – Valdese Emergency Room

Facility Address: 720 Malcolm Boulevard, Valdese, NC 28690

• A full-service, 24-hour emergency department
• Freestanding ED (not a trauma center)
• Volume: ~20,000 annually
• Staffing: (Physicians/ APP's) Combined Morganton/Valdese - 12 Docs and 8 APPs
• Shifts/Schedule: 1- 10 hour app shift/day
• Acuity: 8% Admission rate
• Coverage model: Combined Physician and APP coverage 
• Subspecialty support: Comprehensive subspecialty support from UNC Health Blue Ridge - Morganton
• EMR - Epic

Licensure: Must have NC PA/NP license (NPs must be ENP boarded or eligible), BLS, ACLS before starting. Must obtain ATLS after starting.

Training: depends on experience level.

About Morganton

Morganton lies in Burke County, nestled in the Blue Ridge Mountains of North Carolina. The city is surrounded by mountain peaks, rivers and lakes. The area is ideal for camping, hiking, fishing, mountain biking and kayaking.

In Morganton and the surrounding areas, there are several festivals, historic sites and wineries. Fine arts and regional crafts are abundant. Downtown, you’ll find local shops and restaurants, coffee shops, art galleries and a nice movie theater. The Morganton Greenway System offers several access points with parking leading to miles of paved trails along the Catawba River for walking, jogging and biking.

There are eleven city parks for public use within the city. For great shows and music, visit CoMMA, the City of Morganton Municipal Auditorium. In the summer, residents gather to enjoy weekly concerts available to the public on the town square. When winter comes, enjoy a horse drawn carriage ride around downtown before watching the Christmas parade with family and friends.

Along with all that is available in Morganton, residents and visitors are also just a short drive away from other great cities in North Carolina, such as Asheville, Charlotte and Hickory. The Charlotte-Douglas International Airport is less than 60 miles away.
