Job Description Summary: 


This position works under the guidance of the EMR Clinical Support Manager to support the EMR (electronic medical record) internally and externally by ensuring excellent customer support, timely resolution of EMR support issues and communications with EMR customers.  IT customer support applications include, but are not limited to: EMR, Centricity, and Microsoft applications as they relate to the EMR.  Provide hands-on technical support across EMR infrastructures.  Demonstrates working knowledge of all facets of role, relevant regulations, and organizational and departmental policies and procedures. Performs other duties and projects as assigned. Performs all duties in accordance with regulatory requirements and organizational policies and procedures.


Primary Key Performance Areas


KPA 1 – Product Knowledge

Maintains knowledge of EMR (electronic medical record) functions, programming, with understanding of oncology drugs and proper administration.   

  • Provide basic education to new providers and other staff who maintain regimens/treatments within the EMR.
  • Creates, updates and maintains documentation on clinical use of EMR techniques.
  • Educate system wide as needed when EMR changes occur.

KPA 2 – Merger Support

Participates in all assigned training activities, including for extended periods of time required during mergers.

  • Assist in the development and updating of EMR training materials to keep clinically current
  • Maintain a positive attitude when training providers and staff
  • Assist support staff to develop efficient clinical workflows utilizing the EMR
  • Develop crosswalk of clinical EMR elements to assist in data migration from one EMR system to another and communicate this with others

KPA 3 – Support EMR Upgrades/Updates

Participates in testing upgrades, beta products, overall redesign of current systems as identified by the company or associated vendors.

  • Identify customer risk issues, trends, recurring or concerning issues with management as soon as identified.
  • Identify weaknesses of clinical content in EMR software and suggest enhancements for product improvement.
  • Problem solving skills are utilized when onsite for mergers with frequent communication with interdepartmental teams as needed

KPA 4 – Clinical Support


Maintains Standard Operating Procedures of the EMR support team and act as an interdepartmental liaison to share ideas and processes as they relate to the EMR


  • Update workflows to assist client needs.
  • Maintain knowledge of clinical processes as they related to oncology healthcare needs
  • Under the direction of a physician or pharmacist periodically creates new regimens, following proper approval processes from the regimen committee.
  • Reviews protocols and regimens for accuracy and consistency
  • Ensures requested regimens are entered into the EMR in a timely and accurate manner
  • Assists in manual transfer of treatment regimens as needed during the merger process
  • Strong organizational, multi-tasking and workload prioritization are necessary in a fast-paced environment

Position Qualifications/Requirements


Education:

  • RN designation with OCN experience preferred.
  • Bachelor of Science Degree in Nursing preferred.

Certifications/Licenses:

  • Valid state Driver’s License for travel to satellite offices and offsite meetings. Compliance with the company Driver Safety Operations and Motor Vehicle Records Check Policy is required.
  • Unencumbered Nursing Licensure

Previous Experience:

  • Minimum three (3) years hands on oncology nursing experience required.
  • Minimum two (2) years managing PHI (protected health data) or direct patient care preferred.

  • Customer Service & Organizational Awareness: Strong customer focus. Ability to build an engaging culture of quality, performance effectiveness and operational excellence through best practices, collaboration and partnerships, as well as a positive employee.
  • Self-Management: Effectively manages own time, conflicting priorities, self, stress, and professional development. Self-motivated and self-starter with ability to work independently with limited to moderate supervision.
  • Must be able to work effectively in a fast-paced, multi-site environment with demonstrated ability to juggle competing priorities and demands from a variety of stakeholders and sites.
  • Computer Skills:
    • Proficiency in MS Office Word, Excel, Power Point, and Outlook required.

Travel:  51%-75%


Standard Core Workdays/Hours: Monday to Friday 8:00 AM – 5:00 PM.  May need to work some weekends or evening hours as company needs dictate.
