The Electrical Test Technician supports the electrical and mechanical engineering teams with the fabrication, assembly, validation, and troubleshooting of prototype electromechanical designs. This role is responsible for building cable harnesses, repairing and modifying PCB assemblies, constructing test fixtures, and conducting system-level tests.  The technician is expected to be able to troubleshoot electrical and mechanical issues, verify design performance to defined requirements, document test results, and communicate findings to the project team.  Success in this role requires hands-on technical skills, experience with electrical assembly and soldering, effective problem-solving abilities, attention to detail, and the ability to complete projects safely, accurately, and on schedule.

Job Responsibilities:

  • Fabrication and assembly of wire and cable harnesses to support engineering, service and production.

  • PCB troubleshooting, repair, and component replacement.

  • Fabrication of electromechanical test fixtures containing support structures, cables, sensors, breakers, gauges, motors, belts, pulleys, and other electromechanical components.

  • Conduct tests on prototypes and accurately process data entry using a computer.

  • Perform inspection, testing and troubleshooting of material preparation equipment.

  • Perform system function tests as part of a design of experiments.

  • Perform troubleshooting using diagnostic test instruments (e.g. multimeters, pressure gauges).

Qualifications:

  • Experience (IPC/WHMA-A-620 Certification preferred) in the fabrication of complex wire harnesses.

  • Experience (IPC-7711/7721 Rework and Repair Certification preferred) in the replacement and soldering of PCB components.

  • Good aptitude for problem evaluation, and ability to troubleshoot electrical systems.

  • Complete projects consistently on time.

  • Able to write detailed reports and perform data entry, using a computer, and accurately process project documentation.

  • Communicate effectively, in writing and verbally, with clients and peers.

  • Good judgment, dependable, supervises projects with technical expertise and good business management skills.

  • Strong computer skills including editing, formatting and using templates in Microsoft Word, use of Internet for standards/products/manufacturer research and operation of computer controlled test equipment.

  • Regularly required to stand, walk, use hands and fingers, handle or feel objects, tools or controls; reach with hands and arms; stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl; talk, hear, and smell. Frequently required to sit, climb and balance. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, basic color differentiation and the ability to adjust focus.

  • Regularly lift and/or move up to 25 pounds

  • Experience working in an ISO 9001 preferred

Compensation Information:

The hourly rate for this position is $27-$37. This position is also eligible to participate in an annual incentive plan. Pay offered may vary depending on multiple individualized factors, including market location, job-related knowledge, skills, and experience.
