Function:   

Under established policies, procedures and codes, this position is responsible to execute corrective, preventive and predictive electrical maintenance on all electrical and electronic equipment and components.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Assemble, install, test, and maintain electrical or electronic wiring, equipment, appliances, apparatus, and fixtures per Planned Preventative Maintenance Schedules on Terminal, Aviation Depots, Retail and Commercial (B2B) sites.
  • Diagnose malfunctioning systems, apparatus, and components, using test equipment and hand tools, to locate the cause of a breakdown and correct the problem.
  •  Connect wires to circuit breakers, transformers, or other component using AS 3000:2007 Electrical Installation Wiring Rules, AS 3008:2009 Electrical Installation – Cable Selection
  • Aware and Practice Statutory PNG Power General Wiring Codes.
  • Inspect electrical systems, equipment, and components to identify hazards, defects, and the need for adjustment or repair, and to ensure compliance with codes.
  • Test electrical systems and continuity of circuits in electrical wiring, equipment, and fixtures, using testing devices such as ohmmeters, voltmeters, and oscilloscopes, to ensure compatibility and safety of system.
  • Use of Power loggers for Power quality and monitoring.
  • Use a variety of tools and equipment such as power construction equipment, measuring devices, power tools, and testing equipment including oscilloscopes, ammeters, and test lamps.
  • Install ground leads and connect power cables to equipment, such as motors.
  • Repair or replace wiring, equipment, and fixtures, using hand tools and power tools.
  • Work from ladders, scaffolds, and roofs to install, maintain or repair electrical wiring, equipment, and fixtures.
  • Place conduit (pipes or tubing) inside designated partitions, walls, or other concealed areas, and pull insulated wires or cables through the conduit to complete circuits between boxes.
  • Troubleshoot Retail Electronics and Fuel Management System including Terminal Gantry Microloads and Accuload systems,
  • Fasten small metal or plastic boxes to walls to house electrical switches or outlets.
  • Perform business management duties such as maintaining records and files, preparing reports and ordering supplies and equipment.
  • Perform other duties instructed by the Maintenance Manager.

  • Following implicitly the Company’s Health, Safety & Environment Policy / Procedures / Work Instructions as communicated in writing or as instructions received orally
  • Comply with the Company’s procedures and the relevant legislation regarding the Injury Management process.
  • To formally report to their Manager any concern or incident / injury / non-conformance in any aspect of their work and complete the Puma Energy PNG Incident / Non Conformance Report form.
  • To formally report to their Manager or supervisor any hazard, practice or condition that will affect safety or production or the community.
  • All forms are completed as outlined in the procedures
  • Any discrepancies of goods / services received are to be addressed through the Non Conformance procedures
  • All products are to be verified at appropriate stages as outlined in procedures and a record maintained.

Requirements:

Experience:

  • Trade Certificate / Diploma in Electrical Engineering
  • 3-5 years’ experience as an Electrical Technician or similar role in an oil & gas or mining industry.
  • Certified Electrician with High Voltage Certification
  • Electronics Troubleshooting Experience
  • Current PPL License

  • Ability to interpret electrical and electronic circuits
  • Ability to use hand and power tools
  • Ability to work with high voltage
  • Ability to read electronic schematic diagrams and blueprints
  • Ability to use basic methods and techniques to troubleshoot and diagnose equipment/instrument failure
  • Familiar with safe work practices
  • Ability to identify workplace hazards and/or unsafe conditions and take appropriate corrective actions.
