Duties & Responsibilities:

Viavi Solutions Inc. is seeking a highly motivated Electrical & Optical Engineering Intern to contribute to the design, development, and testing of advanced optical and electrical systems. This internship offers hands-on experience in a dynamic R&D environment, supporting critical projects across various product lines.

Job Responsibilities

  • Assist in the design, simulation, and analysis of electrical circuits and optical components.
  • Conduct laboratory experiments, collect data, and perform preliminary analysis on prototypes and existing systems.
  • Support the assembly, testing, and troubleshooting of electrical and optical modules and sub-assemblies.
  • Contribute to the development and improvement of test procedures and fixtures.
  • Participate in design reviews and provide technical input on project progress.
  • Document experimental results, procedures, and findings in a clear and concise manner.
  • Collaborate with senior engineers on various projects, learning from their expertise.
  • Research and evaluate new technologies, components, and methodologies relevant to optical and electrical engineering.
     

Pre-Requisites / Skills / Experience Requirements:

Job Qualifications

  • Currently pursuing a Bachelor's, Master's, or Ph.D. degree in Electrical Engineering, Optical Engineering, Physics, or a related field.
  • Strong foundational understanding of electrical circuit theory, electromagnetism, and optics.
  • Familiarity with laboratory equipment such as oscilloscopes, multimeters, power supplies, optical spectrum analyzers, and power meters.
  • Experience with simulation tools (e.g., SPICE, Zemax, COMSOL) is a plus.
  • Basic programming skills (e.g., Python, MATLAB) for data acquisition and analysis are desirable.
  • Excellent problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team in a fast-paced environment.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
