About this Electrical Engineer (18 months FTC) role at ResMed

ResMed · Onsite · Singapore, Singapore

The Electrical Engineer II within the Product Lifecycle Engineering (PLE) team supports released obstructive sleep apnea (OSA) products by investigating electrical and electronic issues, maintaining hardware design integrity, and implementing controlled changes throughout the product lifecycle. The role works closely with Systems, Mechanical, Software/Firmware, Manufacturing, Quality, Regulatory and supplier stakeholders to maintain product safety, performance, reliability, compliance and continuity of supply.

Let's talk about Responsibilities

  • Investigate electrical and electronic issues identified through manufacturing, suppliers, service or field performance; collect technical evidence, conduct structured root-cause analysis and recommend appropriate corrective actions.
  • Analyze hardware performance and failure mechanisms using schematics, PCB layouts, component specifications, circuit analysis, lab measurements and relevant field or production data.
  • Develop and document appropriate sustaining solutions, including electronic component substitutions, design corrections, obsolescence mitigations and reliability improvements to released products.
  • Assess electrical design changes for impacts on system operation, interfaces, power, EMC, safety, reliability, manufacturability and potential unintended consequences, consulting relevant specialists where needed.
  • Define verification scope and acceptance criteria for assigned hardware changes; plan, perform or coordinate bench testing and design verification, analyze results and document objective evidence.
  • Contribute to design risk assessments and investigations of potential product safety or performance issues, collaborating with Systems, Quality and Regulatory stakeholders.
  • Prepare and maintain technical deliverables such as investigation reports, design and test documentation, schematics, bills of materials, component assessments and engineering change records.
  • Support engineering change control and implementation with Manufacturing, Procurement, suppliers and Quality teams to maintain product quality and continuity of supply.
  • Participate in cross-functional reviews, communicate technical findings, recommendations, progress and risks, and support timely decisions based on evidence and defined requirements.
  • Independently manage assigned moderately complex sustaining activities, share technical learning with colleagues and escalate unfamiliar, unresolved or high-risk decisions to the appropriate technical lead.

Let's talk about Qualifications and Experience

Required

  • Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Electronics Engineering or a related engineering discipline.
  • Minimum of 6 years of relevant electrical/electronics engineering experience, including work in product design, verification, hardware troubleshooting or sustaining engineering.
  • Sound knowledge of analogue and digital circuits, electronic components, PCB design principles, measurement techniques and electrical hardware troubleshooting.
  • Ability to interpret electronic schematics, PCB layouts, component datasheets, test specifications and technical evidence; proficiency with relevant engineering and laboratory tools.
  • Demonstrated experience using structured problem-solving and root-cause analysis to investigate hardware faults and develop practical, evidence-based solutions.
  • Experience evaluating component or hardware design changes and planning or executing appropriate design verification, including clear technical documentation.
  • Familiarity with design controls, engineering change management and risk-based engineering practices; working knowledge of applicable medical device quality and safety requirements.
  • Strong analytical, communication and cross-functional collaboration skills, with the ability to deliver assigned technical work with limited day-to-day supervision.

Preferred

  • Experience sustaining released medical devices, particularly OSA, respiratory-care or connected electromechanical products.
  • Experience with PCB CAD tools such as Altium, electronic simulation, diagnostic equipment and/or automated electrical testing.
  • Experience working with component obsolescence, alternative-part qualification, suppliers and manufacturing change implementation.
  • Experience applying data analysis, automation or AI-enabled engineering tools responsibly to improve investigation quality or productivity.
