Responsible for performing the day-to-day activities of the Dispatch Department in accordance with current federal, state/provincial, and local standards, guidelines, and regulations governing this facility, and as may be directed by the Dispatch Manager to assure that the Dispatch Department is run in a safe, efficient, and proper manner.

Essential Job Duties

  • Schedule drivers on routes daily.
  • PTP and put up tickets looking for any rush or problem tickets that did not get handled.
  • Handle any issues with pick tickets (RCE, PLRC) or parts that did not get delivered on time.
  • Manifest the driver pick tickets.
  • Communicate with external customers and provide a high quality service.
  • Operate and run reports with the GPS system.
  • Manage time off requests and Kronos.
  • Schedule maintenance on vehicles and or break downs with mechanic(s).
  • Sign off on bills for maintenance and schedule rentals when/if needed.
  • Ensure we are compliant with drivers and paperwork for DOT.
  • Handle discipline issues and any drivers under probation because of their MVR and LKQ points.
  • Ensure the vehicle checklist and driver log in has turned in each day.
  • New hire paperwork for driver (s) and training including LKQU, ISO and DOT.
  • Order RMA, Hot core and core purchase books.
  • Handle or delegate getting vehicle tags, Gas pins, vehicle keys, DOT inspection, DOT physicals, and emission inspections.
  • Filing (vehicle records, PTO, etc.).
  • Assume other duties as assigned. (Must add Manage safely laws, rules and regulations.)

Supervisory Responsibilities

  • Supervise the work of others, including planning, assigning and scheduling work, reviewing work and ensuring quality standards, training staff and overseeing productivity. May offer recommendations for hiring, termination and pay adjustments, but do not have final responsibility for making these decisions.

Minimum Requirements

Education & Experience

  • High School Diploma/GED
  • 3 years+ in specialized profession or equivalent; Proficient in specialty including prior senior lead experience.

Preferred Requirements  

  • Experience in logistic, delivery or dispatch

Knowledge/Skills/Abilities

  • Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals. Ability to compute rates, ratios, and percentages and to draw and interpret graphs.
  • Frequent use of Outlook, Word, Excel, graphics, etc. Ability to create, maintain and incorporate functions into Word documents, Excel spreadsheets, databases, and Powerpoint presentations to support business objectives.
  • Regularly uses moderately complex oral and written skills. May train others in functional areas, interact with others and make presentations to department or middle management.
  • Problems encountered are routine, somewhat repetitive and generally solved by following clear directions and procedures.
  • Decisions generally affect own job or assigned functional area.
  • Results are defined; sets personal own goals and determines how to achieve results with few or no guidelines to follow; supervisor/manager provides broad guidance and overall direction.
  • Handle multiple tasks or projects simultaneously with moderate complexity.
  • No additional competencies required.

Essential Physical Demands/Work Environment  

  • Work is primarily sedentary: must be able to sit for extended periods of time and use a computer, keyboard, and mouse, frequently.
  • Travel may be required periodically, including overnight stays (contingent on position requirements).
  • Must be able to lift up to 75 pounds.
