We’re looking for a Director, Transportation & Logistics who will build and lead Collectors' global transportation, shipping, and trade compliance capability, beginning with PSA. Today, shipping runs as a lean parcel program with fragmented ownership of customs activity, global carrier management, shipping tools and systems, and transportation + logistics processes. As PSA grading volume expands globally, this function must become a scaled, governed, technology-enabled operation.
You’ll report to the VP, Operations and work onsite from one of our offices in California, Florida, Texas or New Jersey - our office locations are in Santa Ana, Boca Raton, Plano and Jersey City (Santa Ana preferred). There will be occasional quarterly travel for this role.
Onsite Requirement:
This role requires you to be onsite in the office 5 days per week.
Scope & Impact:
- Global ownership of transportation, shipping, and logistics across Collectors lines of business, with PSA as a primary focus
- Accountability for all carrier relationships, contracts, and spend across domestic and international lanes
- Ownership of shipping systems: TMS, carrier management tools, and Operations shipping tools (ProShip, Aftership)
- Build-out of a regional transportation + logistics team across the US, EU, and APAC, plus develop our customs and trade compliance capability
- Ownership of global transportation network strategy, including network design, routing, mode selection, capacity planning, and resilience
- Financial accountability for transportation spend, budget, forecast, cost-to-serve, and structural savings
What You’ll Do:
Carrier Strategy & Contract Management
- Own the global carrier strategy and portfolio across parcel, express, international, and freight; lead RFPs and negotiate rates, surcharges, service levels, liability, and claims terms
- Own the global transportation network and carrier strategy across parcel, express, international, freight, 3PLs, and specialty high-value logistics providers; optimize routing, mode selection, carrier mix, and capacity by lane and region
- Structure contract terms that protect high-value shipments and align commercial terms with Finance forecasts, budgets, and accruals
- Run carrier governance: scorecards, business reviews, SLA enforcement, freight audit/payment, invoice accuracy, accessorial management, spend visibility, claims recovery, carrier redundancy, and contingency planning
Systems, Tools & Shipping Programs
- Own the transportation systems roadmap with Product & Technology, including TMS selection, implementation, and adoption, plus carrier management tools and analytics for rate shopping, performance, cost, and exception insights
- Give leadership end-to-end shipment visibility through integrated IMS, WMS, ERP, and carrier data
- Build global shipment visibility and exception-management capabilities, with real-time monitoring, clear escalation paths, and analytics across cost, service, claims, customs, and shipment exceptions
Global Shipping Processes, Insurance & High-Value Transport
- Design and standardize the global process for all inter-company shipments and all inbound customer shipments
- Own the shipping insurance program, including coverage structure, carrier liability versus third-party coverage, claims recovery, and policy governance with Finance, Risk, and Legal
- Define the high-value transport process: eligibility thresholds, service levels, packaging, handling, tracking, chain-of-custody, and signature requirements
- Partner with Engineering on shipping solutions, including packaging and container design, and use damage, loss, and claims data to drive improvements
Customs, Trade Compliance & Team Leadership
- Provide leadership oversight of customs and global trade compliance across North America, EU, and APAC, including customs brokers and forwarders, classification, valuation, duties, and documentation
- Build and develop a regional logistics team with clear KPIs (on-time delivery, cost per shipment, damage and loss rate, claims recovery) and succession
Who You Are:
Required Qualifications:
- 10+ years of transportation, logistics, or supply chain leadership, including leading teams and external partners in a global environment
- Proven record negotiating and managing carrier contracts across parcel, express, and international lanes, with strong financial acumen and Finance partnership
- Experience implementing and using a TMS and ERP/WMS systems as the senior business owner
- Working knowledge of customs, import/export, and trade compliance, including management of brokers and forwarders
- Experience designing standardized shipping processes at scale across multiple sites or regions
Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience shipping high-value or irreplaceable goods (collectibles, luxury, jewelry, art), including insurance programs and claims
- Experience with ProShip or similar multi-carrier shipping software, and with Engineering on packaging or shipping solution design
- Experience supporting rapid international expansion across EU and APAC
- Licensed Customs Broker, Certified Customs Specialist, or CTL/CTP credential; Master's degree
Salary Range:
The salary range for this position is $173,000-$208,000. Actual compensation on this range varies based on a variety of non-discriminatory factors, including location, job level, experience, and skill set.
