Position: Director, Central Processing Services

Schedule: Full Time, 40 hours

POSITION SUMMARY:

The role leads managers and supervisors to deliver reliable, high-quality reprocessing services supporting 42 surgical and procedural rooms, 57 ambulatory and inpatient locations, and 20 affiliated offsite clinics. The Director operates as the departmental subject matter expert in sterilization and high-level disinfection and partners closely with surgical services, perioperative services, infection prevention, nursing leadership, and physician stakeholders.

This role translates strategic direction into operational execution, provides data-driven insights and recommendations to the Senior Director, and ensures consistent, compliant, and service-oriented CSP operations across all sites.

ESSENTIAL RESPONSIBILITIES / DUTIES:

1. Strategic Leadership And Operational Execution

  • Translates Surgical Services and organizational priorities into clear operational plans and departmental goals
  • Executes against strategic direction established by the Senior Director
  • Identifies operational risks, constraints, and improvement opportunities and escalates recommendations
  • Aligns departmental initiatives with organizational priorities and defined KPIs
  • Drives consistency and standardization of CSP practices across all locations

2. Quality, Regulatory, And Patient Safety

  • Implements sterilization and high-level disinfection practices in alignment with all regulatory and accrediting bodies (AAMI, AORN, Joint Commission, DPH, CDC, CMS, OSHA)
  • Monitors compliance through audits, observations, and data review
  • Leads corrective action planning and ensures sustained adherence to standards
  • Recommends updates to policies, procedures, and standard work based on regulatory changes and operational findings
  • Partners with Infection Prevention and Quality leadership to support patient safety and survey readiness

3. Performance Management And Analytics

  • Establishes, monitors, and reports on operational KPIs aligned with departmental and organizational priorities
  • Analyzes performance data to identify trends, risks, and operational gaps
  • Develops clear, executive-level reporting and insights for Senior Director review
  • Supports development of improvement plans and tracks execution against targets
  • Uses data to anticipate service needs, improve reliability, and inform decision-making
  • Prepares and delivers structured updates to leadership, committees, and stakeholders

4. Workforce Leadership And Resource Management

  • Leads managers and supervisors across CSP operations, setting expectations and holding teams accountable for performance
  • Oversees hiring, onboarding, performance management, and leadership development
  • Ensures staff competency, training, and certification alignment with regulatory expectations
  • Develops operating and capital budget proposals for Senior Director review
  • Monitors financial performance, resource utilization, and variances; provides recommendations
  • Supports staffing models and resource allocation to meet operational demand and service expectations

5. Stakeholder Engagement And Service Integration

  • Serves as the primary operational liaison for CSP with perioperative leadership, physician leaders, and clinical partners
  • Builds effective working relationships across departments to support procedural operations
  • Presents operational performance, service issues, and improvement plans to committees and leadership forums
  • Acts as escalation point for complex service issues; drives timely resolution and communication
  • Promotes a responsive, service-oriented culture focused on reliability and customer experience

6. Facilities, Environment Of Care, And Safety

  • Assesses space, workflow, and equipment needs to support safe and efficient operations
  • Develops recommendations for facility improvements, renovations, and workflow optimization
  • Supports implementation of approved capital and operational projects
  • Maintains a safe work environment, including oversight of safety practices, training, and equipment readiness

7. Professional Development

  • Maintains current knowledge of CSP standards, regulatory requirements, and industry best practices
  • Participates in leadership development and continuous learning
  • Supports a culture of learning and professional growth across the department

JOB REQUIREMENTS

REQUIRED EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:

  • Bachelor’s degree in business administration, healthcare, or related field required.

  • Minimum of 7 years of progressive operations, administrative, or financial management experience

  • Minimum of 3 years in a healthcare or medical institution setting

Or equivalent combination of education and experience.

PREFERRED EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE (If none, please enter “N/A”):

  • Advanced degree preferred.

  • Experience supporting complex, multi-site procedural or surgical environments preferred

CERTIFICATIONS, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS PREFERRED (If none, please enter “N/A”):

Relevant CSP or clinical certifications (e.g., CRCST, CER, CHL, Certified Surgical Technologist, RN) preferred.

KNOWLEDGE AND SKILLS:

  • • Ability to translate strategic direction into operational execution

    • Demonstrated experience managing personnel and financial resources

    • Strong ability to partner effectively with physician and clinical leadership

    • Proven leadership of multi-layered teams in a complex environment

    • Experience with program implementation, evaluation, and process improvement

    • Ability to manage multiple priorities and operate effectively in a fast-paced setting

    • Strong problem-solving skills, including anticipating issues and developing practical solutions

    • Effective communication skills, including the ability to present operational insights clearly to leadership audiences

    • High level of organization and attention to detail

    • Proficiency with standard business and healthcare software tools

Compensation Range:

$104,000.00- $151,000.00

This range offers an estimate based on the minimum job qualifications. However, our approach to determining base pay is comprehensive, and a broad range of factors is considered when making an offer. This includes education, experience, skills, and certifications/licensures as they directly relate to position requirements; as well as business/organizational needs, internal equity, and market-competitiveness.
