About this DevOps Engineer - SRE focus role at Wolters Kluwer

Wolters Kluwer · Onsite · SWE - Gothenburg

About the Role

Wolters Kluwer is looking for an experienced Senior DevSecOps Engineer to join GBS – GTS Application & Technology Partners, within Wolters Kluwer Scandinavia AB. This role is primarily focused on Site Reliability Engineering (SRE) and the operational support of customer-facing applications hosted in Microsoft Azure.

You will play a key role in ensuring the reliability, availability, performance and resilience of established cloud applications used by our customers. Working within a mature DevSecOps environment, you will operate, maintain and continuously improve our existing Azure-based cloud platform.

Working closely with Engineering, Cloud Operations, Security and other key stakeholders, you will troubleshoot production issues, improve monitoring and observability, automate operational processes, maintain Infrastructure as Code and support CI/CD pipelines.

This is primarily a production-focused SRE and operations role rather than a greenfield cloud architecture position. Success will come from your ability to understand complex environments quickly, identify opportunities for improvement and implement pragmatic solutions within established enterprise frameworks and standards.

You will join an experienced, globally connected team working with proven cloud solutions already in production. From day one, you will be able to build on established best practices while contributing through automation, improved monitoring and AI-supported troubleshooting to reduce manual effort and improve reliability.

Key Responsibilities

  • Ensure the reliability, availability and performance of customer-facing applications hosted in Azure.
  • Monitor, investigate and resolve incidents and production platform issues.
  • Apply SRE principles across incident management, observability, capacity planning, root cause analysis and reduction of operational toil.
  • Support and maintain Azure cloud infrastructure, including diagnostics, logging and performance optimisation.
  • Maintain and extend existing Infrastructure as Code (IaC) using Terraform.
  • Identify and automate repetitive operational processes to improve efficiency and reliability.
  • Support and troubleshoot CI/CD pipelines using tools such as Azure DevOps and GitHub.
  • Work closely with development teams to improve application stability and production readiness.
  • Collaborate with Security teams to ensure established security and compliance standards are followed.
  • Develop scripts and tools using Python, Bash or similar technologies to improve operational workflows.
  • Work within established cloud architecture, engineering and governance standards.
  • Contribute to the continuous improvement of platform operations, monitoring and support processes.
  • Use AI tools where appropriate to support troubleshooting, automation and day-to-day engineering activities.
  • Participate in an on-call rotation of approximately one week in four during peak tax season (March–July) to support business continuity.

What We're Looking For

Essential Experience

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Systems or a related discipline, or equivalent relevant experience.
  • Approximately 5+ years of experience in DevOps, DevSecOps, Site Reliability Engineering or a similar production-focused engineering role.
  • Strong hands-on experience supporting and troubleshooting cloud-based applications in Microsoft Azure.
  • Experience with Infrastructure as Code, preferably Terraform.
  • Experience with CI/CD tools, such as Azure DevOps or GitHub, including troubleshooting pipelines.
  • Strong understanding of application and infrastructure operations, including incident management, monitoring and root cause analysis.
  • Scripting experience using Python, Bash or similar technologies, particularly for automation.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills in complex production environments.
  • A strong operational mindset with a focus on reliability, automation and continuous improvement.

Nice to Have

  • Experience with container technologies such as Kubernetes and Docker.
  • Familiarity with AI-assisted engineering tools for troubleshooting, automation or operational support.
  • Experience working within a large-scale enterprise or matrix organisation with established governance and engineering standards.

About You

You enjoy solving complex production problems and improving the reliability of systems that customers depend on. You are comfortable working within an established enterprise environment and understand that effective engineering is not always about building something new. You can quickly understand existing platforms, identify opportunities for improvement and implement practical solutions that make systems more resilient and easier to operate. You are collaborative, analytical and proactive, with strong communication skills and a genuine interest in using automation to reduce manual effort. Most importantly, you bring an SRE mindset: you care about reliability, observability, operational excellence and continuously improving production systems.

Our Interview Practices

To maintain a fair and genuine hiring process, we kindly ask that all candidates participate in interviews without the assistance of AI tools or external prompts. Our interview process is designed to assess your individual skills, experiences, and communication style. We value authenticity and want to ensure we’re getting to know you—not a digital assistant. To help maintain this integrity, we ask to remove virtual backgrounds and include in-person interviews in our hiring process. Please note that use of AI-generated responses or third-party support during interviews will be grounds for disqualification from the recruitment process.

Applicants may be required to appear onsite at a Wolters Kluwer office as part of the recruitment process.
