About this Development Engineer Mechatronics with focus on MATLAB Simulation Tools (m/f/x) role at ZEISS
Your Role
ZEISS Semiconductor Manufacturing Technology
Enabler for smaller, more powerful, and more energy-efficient microchips
Working for tomorrow today.
Around 80 percent of all microchips worldwide are produced using ZEISS technologies. As the centerpiece of every electronically controlled system, they have become an integral part of our everyday lives – whether in smartphones, smart homes or smart factories. ZEISS is a technology leader in the field of semiconductor manufacturing equipment. With high-precision lithography optics, photomask systems and process control solutions, ZEISS enables the production of ever smaller, increasingly powerful, and more energy-efficient microchips, and thus plays a pivotal role in the age of micro- and nanoelectronics.
To manufacture high performance semiconductor chips using microlithography, we develop the world’s most advanced projection and illumination systems. Solutions based on controlled mechatronic concepts play a key role in this. We are looking for an experienced engineer to develop, maintain, and support a simulation environment for applications in dynamics and control engineering. In your role as MATLAB Simulation Tool Developer – Dynamics & Control Engineering (f/m/x), you will:
- Manage, maintain, and further develop the existing MATLAB-based simulation environment
- Implement and integrate existing algorithms for the simulation of dynamic systems and control applications
- Ensure the quality, reliability, and usability of the simulation tool
- Provide technical support for user inquiries, including troubleshooting, consulting, and problem resolution
- Contribute to the development, maintenance, and administration of the CI/CD pipeline
- Collaborate closely with systems engineers and development engineers to gather requirements and improve the toolchain
- Create and maintain technical documentation, user manuals, and release notes.
Your Profile
- Strong knowledge and practical experience in multibody system modeling and simulation
- Strong programming skills in MATLAB; experience with Simulink is highly desirable. Ability to understand, implement, and extend existing simulation and control algorithms
- Preferred Qualifications Experience with software development practices such as version control, testing, and collaborative development workflows
- Basic knowledge of Git is highly beneficial
- Familiarity with CI/CD pipelines and software quality assurance processes is a plus
- Experience with FEM (Finite Element Method) and control engineering is advantageous but not required
- General Qualifications Excellent university degree in Mechanical Engineering, Mechatronics, Technical Cybernetics or a comparable field of study
- Several years of professional experience in the development of complex mechatronic systems
- an independent and systematic way of working, very good organizational skills and strong assertiveness
- Enjoy working as part of an interdisciplinary team in a highly dynamic environment, combined with a high level of commitment and performance orientation
- Good communication skills for collaboration with both developers and users
- Very good English skills, both written and spoken; good German skills are an advantage
