DEVELOPER INTERN

MERKLE AARHUS, A DENTSU COMPANY

Do you want to go on a journey in one of Denmark's largest digital bureaus? Do you like to build robust backend systems the right way, and do you have a flair for writing code? Then this might be something for you!

Being an intern at Merkle will give you a lot of opportunities to evolve within e-commerce and platform development. You will be a fully integrated developer in a unique team of backend developers, frontend developers, QA's, and our clients and stakeholders. A team where we help each other finishing the tasks, in a sometimes busy day. You will have a mentor, who will help onboarding you and help you feel ready for the tasks as a developer at Merkle.

What you'll be working on

You'll join Merkle's Aarhus software team to help develop an API Management system exposing endpoints from a marketplace for aircraft spare parts. You'll work primarily on the Backend-for-Frontend (BFF), handling users and applications against a database, running in Azure.

Tasks and responsibilities

• Build and maintain backend solutions in Java/Spring Boot, including REST endpoints and integration with external services
• Gain practical experience with unit tests, automated E2E testing, and debugging
• Learn how a modern API Management system fits together (frontend, BFF, database, and platforms such as SAP APIM and Entra ID)
• Understand the professional development process, from business requirements to running code via version control, code review, and CI/CD
• Collaborate through pair programming and agile methods, contributing your own solution proposals

Backend development and API management are becoming a bigger and bigger part of our company, and right now we are growing every year. As an intern you will get a lot of interesting and challenging tasks. You will get great knowledge of modern software development methods, cloud deployment, and of how it is to work in an innovative company. We are located at the center of Aarhus with a nice office at Åboulevarden 18, 2. sal, 8000 Aarhus C.

The internship will be from mid-January and for the following 3–4 months, and in that period, there will also be time to make your project in cooperation with Merkle. The internship is fulltime and unpaid - but we do offer a lot of social events, lots of learning opportunities and free breakfast and lunch.
