About this Data Product Lead role at Reserve Bank of New Zealand

- Join the Reserve Bank and play a key role in enhancing and supporting data products built from information supplied by New Zealand banks and insurers.
This is an opportunity to work with some of the Bank's most important data assets and help transform them into meaningful insights that support supervision, financial stability, policy and decision-making.
Te tūranga – The role
As Data Product Lead, you'll lead and coordinate the enhancement, support and ongoing development of the Bank's Loan Level Data and Insurance Data products as they transition into business-as-usual operation.
This is a senior role with a strong delivery focus. We're looking for someone who can provide leadership and direction while also rolling up their sleeves and building solutions themselves.
Working closely with stakeholders across the Bank, you'll help identify opportunities for improvement, prioritise enhancements, and develop products that make complex data accessible and useful for a wide range of users.
Examples of the work could include:
- Enhancing Power BI dashboards and analytical reporting products.
- Developing statistical tables and web-based reporting outputs.
- Producing data quality monitoring and reporting solutions.
- Supporting the build of analytical models and prototypes using Python and/or R.
- Supporting the adoption and use of products across supervision, financial stability and research & policy functions.
- Establishing and sharing good practice for sustainable data product development.
Ō pūkenga – About you
To succeed in this role, you'll be an experienced data professional who combines technical expertise with strong relationship management skills. You'll enjoy working collaboratively, navigating complex issues and translating data into practical solutions that deliver long-term value.
You'll bring:
- A tertiary qualification in finance, economics, statistics, data science or a related discipline.
- At least six years' relevant experience in statistics, analytics, data management or a financial institution.
- Proven experience designing, developing andenhancing data products that meet ongoing user needs.
- Strong stakeholder engagement skills and the ability to communicate effectively with both technical and non-technical audiences.
- Experience in various data platforms and tools e.g. Azure, Snowflake, dbt, SQL, PowerBI, Python or R. .
- Strong understanding of data warehousing, modelling, analytics and reporting & data visualisation practices.
- Sound judgement and the ability to think strategically across a broad range of issues.
- Strong planning and prioritisation skills, with the ability to manage competing demands.
