We are seeking a seasoned Microsoft Dynamics 365 Finance & Operations (D365 F&O) Functional Lead with deep, hands-on expertise across Finance and Supply Chain Management for an immediate contract engagement.

The ideal candidate will bring strong functional knowledge of D365 F&O, including system configuration, financial operations, month-end close, cash application, collections, and related business processes. In addition to functional leadership, this role requires the ability to write or modify code, troubleshoot technical issues, and develop custom modifications to address complex business requirements.

The successful candidate will work closely with business stakeholders, finance teams, supply chain users, and technical teams to analyze requirements, configure the system, resolve functional and technical issues, and deliver effective D365 F&O solutions.

This is a primarily remote engagement requiring availability during US East Coast business hours. Candidates must be based in the United States, possess excellent English communication skills, and be willing to travel to Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, occasionally when required.

Key Responsibilities

1. D365 F&O Functional Leadership

  • Lead functional activities across Microsoft Dynamics 365 Finance and Supply Chain Management.
  • Gather, analyze, and document business requirements from finance, accounting, collections, and supply chain stakeholders.
  • Translate business requirements into functional specifications, solution designs, and system configurations.
  • Conduct fit-gap analysis and recommend standard D365 F&O functionality or custom solutions based on business needs.
  • Lead functional workshops, requirements discussions, solution walkthroughs, and stakeholder meetings.
  • Provide functional guidance to business users and technical teams throughout implementation and enhancement activities.
  • Ensure system configurations align with business processes, financial controls, and operational requirements.

2. Finance and Accounting

  • Configure and support core D365 F&O financial modules, including General Ledger, Accounts Receivable, Accounts Payable, and Cash and Bank Management.
  • Support financial dimensions, account structures, posting profiles, journals, financial calendars, and related configurations.
  • Manage and troubleshoot month-end and year-end closing processes.
  • Support financial reconciliations, transaction postings, period-end adjustments, and financial reporting requirements.
  • Configure and support customer payment processing, cash application, payment matching, and related reconciliation activities.
  • Support collections processes, overdue receivables management, customer balances, and collection prioritization.
  • Troubleshoot financial transaction errors, posting issues, and discrepancies between subledgers and the General Ledger.
  • Assist with financial process improvements, automation opportunities, and controls.

3. Cash Application and Collections

  • Analyze and improve cash application processes, including customer payment processing, remittance matching, and payment reconciliation.
  • Configure and troubleshoot relevant D365 F&O functionality supporting customer payments and cash application.
  • Work with Accounts Receivable teams to resolve unapplied cash, payment discrepancies, and customer account issues.
  • Support collections workflows, collection letters, customer aging, credit and collections processes, and outstanding receivables management.
  • Investigate issues involving customer transactions, payment settlements, deductions, and account balances.
  • Identify opportunities to streamline cash application and collections through standard functionality, configuration, or custom modifications.

4. Supply Chain Management

  • Provide functional expertise across relevant D365 F&O Supply Chain Management processes.
  • Configure and support procurement, inventory management, product information, order processing, and related supply chain workflows as required.
  • Analyze business processes and identify configuration gaps, process inefficiencies, and system issues.
  • Troubleshoot integration and transaction issues affecting finance and supply chain operations.
  • Ensure appropriate integration between supply chain transactions and financial postings.
  • Collaborate with finance and operational stakeholders to validate end-to-end business processes.
  • Support system enhancements and process optimization across finance and supply chain functions.

5. System Configuration and Functional Setups

  • Work with technical teams to design and implement custom modifications where standard functionality does not meet business needs.
  • Demonstrate the ability to understand existing code, identify defects, and implement appropriate fixes or enhancements.
  • Work with X++ and relevant D365 F&O development components, including extensions, classes, tables, and business logic, as applicable.
  • Analyze technical issues affecting financial and supply chain transactions.
  • Support integrations, data entities, custom business logic, and related technical components.
