About this Customs & Trade Compliance Manager role at Airbus
Job Description:
A vacancy for a Customs & Trade Compliance Manager has arisen within Airbus India.
In this role, you will act as the strategic focal point for trade governance, customs compliance, and duty optimization in India. Operating within the Finance organization, you will establish robust compliance frameworks and oversee external Customs Brokers without performing manual operational entry filings. Working in close alignment with European hubs, you will secure compliant and seamless material flows to support local assembly operations, while also supporting business activities for other divisions in India & South Asia.
- Accountabilities
Operating with high autonomy and a Project Management (PMO) mindset, your key responsibilities will include:
● Broker Governance & Auditing: Lead, supervise, and audit appointed Customs
House Agents (CHAs) to ensure strict adherence to SLAs, accurate HSN classification, valuation, and rules of origin declarations.
● Duty Optimization & Concessional Schemes: Direct the application and
governance of concessional duty regimes (e.g., IGCR and local manufacturing
schemes) to secure duty exemptions on imported components while ensuring strict end-use compliance.
● Valuation & Transfer Pricing: Lead local Special Valuation Branch (SVB)
proceedings in coordination with Finance to ensure intercompany pricing structures fully meet customs requirements.
● Export Control & Regulatory Compliance: Oversee compliance regarding
SCOMET (dual-use) regulations, non-tariff trade restrictions, and required
import/export authorizations.
● Stakeholder & Authority Liaison: Represent Airbus before Indian Customs, trade authorities (DGFT), and civil aviation regulatory bodies.
● Cross-Functional Alignment: Partner with European trade teams, local Logistics, Procurement, and FAL Production to align master data and streamline supply chain processes.
- Required skills
● Educated to degree level (or equivalent) in Business Law, International Trade, Supply Chain, or Finance.
● 12+ years of proven experience in customs compliance, auditing, and broker
governance within the Aerospace, Defense, or Automotive manufacturing sectors
● In-depth knowledge of Indian Customs legislation (CBIC), Foreign Trade Policy
(DGFT), and duty-concessional manufacturing programs.
● Demonstrated Project Management (PMO) skills to design, deploy, and structure compliance frameworks in a manufacturing setup.
● Familiarity with Special Valuation Branch (SVB) processes and intercompany trade mechanisms.
● Proficiency in digital corporate tools and ERP systems.
● Language Skills: English (Negotiation level - mandatory).
