Requirements and Nature of Work:

Nature of Work

Assessing and grading course assignments and research-related deliverables.

Providing detailed, constructive, and methodologically sound written feedback on students’ work, including research questions, literature/theoretical foundations, research design, methodological approaches, and overall coherence of the proposed research.

Assessing final research proposal presentations and providing constructive feedback to students.

Supporting weekly course activities and/or applied sessions.

Providing guidance to students on research design and methodological issues, including quantitative and qualitative approaches, as appropriate to their proposed research.

Responding to student questions and explaining concepts, assignment expectations, feedback, and grading rationale clearly and consistently.

Applying grading criteria consistently and fairly across students.

Meeting regularly with the instructor to review grading expectations, calibrate assessment standards, discuss student progress and performance, and identify methodological or other issues arising from student work.

Maintaining accurate grading records and completing assigned grading and feedback within established timelines.

Minimum qualifications

Academic Background: Preference will be given to PhD Candidates in Management or a closely related discipline, with strong knowledge of Health Systems Management, and are in the advanced/final stage of their doctoral research (e.g., data analysis, dissertation writing, or nearing thesis defence). Minimum C.G.P.A. of 8.0.

Applicants must demonstrate advanced graduate-level training and research experience in research design and methodology (qualitative, quantitative, and mixed methods), with particular relevance to management, organizational, and health systems research. Given the multidisciplinary nature of the MSc cohort, demonstrated familiarity with research across multiple areas of management is strongly preferred. 

Research Experience: Prior graduate level teaching assistant and/or instructor experience with demonstrated ability to evaluate and provide substantive written feedback on proposals, papers, and written assignments is preferred. Applicants must demonstrate strong knowledge and applied experience in:

Quantitative and qualitative research designs and methodologies.

Development and critical assessment of research questions, hypotheses, conceptual/theoretical frameworks, and research proposals.

Selection and justification of appropriate research designs, sampling approaches, data collection methods, and analytical strategies.

Assessment of validity, reliability/trustworthiness, bias, methodological rigour, and research limitations.

Critical appraisal of peer-reviewed empirical research.

Time Management:  Demonstrated strong ability to adequately organize work, grade assignments and return results to students promptly, while also addressing their questions, is crucial, given the demands of teaching, exam schedules, etc.

Effective Communication with Students:  Excellent communication skills and ability to provide clear constructive feedback to students and address their questions regarding deliverables and grading.

Ongoing Communication with the Instructor: Expectations to hold regular weekly meetings with the instructor to review grading expectations and standards, discuss student performance, ensure consistency across assessments, and identify and address emerging issues. Availability and reliability throughout the full duration of the course are required.
