Summary

We are currently hiring for Electrical Engineers, ranging in skillset from 3-10 years. These engineers will independently design and implement controls systems and equipment along with supporting upgrades for all electrical controls products, drive the on-time delivery and be engaged in a team focused environment for the purpose of executing requisition projects and software upgrades. These positions will provide timely development and deployment. In this role, candidates will drive the on-time delivery for requisition projects and upgrades. Depending on skillset and expertise, you may also oversee the technical design, development, and testing of a variety of controls system applications and system configurations and will also work to troubleshoot and resolve controls related problems and improve their performance and efficiency. May be responsible for the design of PLC based control systems.

Job Responsibilities

  • Support the commercial bid process for customer projects, general requisitions, and life cycle activities, ensuring the use of sound engineering principles and compliance with business standards, procedures, and program requirements. Design, develop, test, and deploy electrical and electronic safety control systems and components for both surface and subsea drilling equipment, including PLC-based control systems. Responsible for component selection, managing obsolescence, performing failure analysis, and implementing control system improvements.

  • Conduct electronics design—including circuit and circuit board design, classic calculations, and component selection—and leverage simulation tools such as SPICE and Matlab Simulink for system analysis and optimization. Analyze and explain electromagnetic components (e.g., transformers, solenoids) and their impact on system performance. Occasionally perform circuit board redesign as needed.

  • Utilize a solid understanding of networking concepts (IP mapping, VPNs, routers, switches), able to configure and troubleshoot network hardware and provide solutions to complex issues. Forecast and procure hardware and licenses to support lab testing requirements and navigate PLM systems for project management.

  • Work collaboratively with cross-functional teams to define project requirements and test plans, address supply chain issues, participate in lab testing, and validate activities. Ensure the proper documentation of all technical data, in line with engineering policies and procedures, and provide timely communication of significant issues or developments to Engineering Managers and Product Line Leaders.

  • Mentor and provide guidance to staff on electronics, simulation, and electromagnetic topics, supporting ongoing learning and capability development within the team.

Skills and Abilities: 

  • Basic knowledge of circuit board design and failure analysis.

  • Basic knowledge of electrical cabinet design.

  • Familiarity with control system design and electrical components selection.

  • Familiarity with controls power distribution and networking technology.

  • Familiarity with AutoCAD.

  • Product knowledge of Oil and Gas Rigs, both Onshore and offshore.

  • Capable of reading electrical schematics and Network diagrams.

  • Proficient in multiple disciplines (i.e power, controls, electronics, networks, cybersecurity, motors, VFD, PLC programming, other software languages…)

  • Ability to work in a team environment on short- and long-term projects.

  • Working knowledge of design for reliability techniques.

  • Ability to think critically and solve problems effectively.

  • Quick learner of new ideas and processes.

  • Advanced English Level.

Required Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree in electrical / Controls/ Computer Engineering from an accredited university.

3 to 10 years of experience, depending on skillset
