A mission-driven nonprofit organization is seeking an experienced Controller to lead its accounting and finance operations. Overview
Reporting to the CFO, the Controller will oversee all accounting, financial reporting, budgeting, audits, and day-to-day finance operations. This role partners closely with executive leadership, supports board reporting, and helps strengthen the organization's financial infrastructure while ensuring compliance and operational excellence.
Key Responsibilities
Lead all accounting operations, including general ledger, AP, AR, payroll, and grants administration
Oversee financial reporting, cash flow forecasting, budgeting, and financial analysis
Direct the annual audit process and ensure compliance with GAAP and regulatory requirements
Develop and maintain accounting policies, procedures, and strong internal controls
Support organizational budgeting and provide financial guidance to senior leadership
Manage banking relationships and oversee treasury activities
Drive process improvements to enhance efficiency and strengthen financial operations
Supervise, mentor, and develop the accounting team
Qualifications
Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field (Master's degree preferred)
CPA preferred
6+ years of progressive accounting and finance experience with at least 4 years in a leadership role
Nonprofit accounting experience preferred, including grants and contract management
Experience leading audits, budgeting, financial reporting, and internal controls
Strong leadership, project management, and communication skills
