Position Summary

Liberty Behavioral & Community Services is seeking a qualified Contract Board Certified Behavior Analyst (BCBA) to provide clinical behavioral services to individuals with intellectual disabilities, developmental disabilities, autism, and/or co-occurring behavioral or mental health needs.

The Contract BCBA will independently provide behavior-analytic assessment, treatment planning, clinical oversight, staff consultation and training, and ongoing monitoring of individualized ABA services. The BCBA will work collaboratively with families, direct-care staff, clinical team members, and funding sources to develop and maintain effective, function-based interventions designed to increase adaptive, social, and communication skills while reducing behaviors that interfere with an individual's quality of life and participation in services.

The Contract BCBA is responsible for ensuring that clinical documentation, assessments, treatment plans, progress reports, data collection, and other required records are accurate, timely, and compliant with applicable professional, regulatory, and funding-source requirements.

This is a 1099 independent contractor position. The contractor is responsible for maintaining their professional credentials, applicable insurance, taxes, business expenses, and other obligations associated with independent contractor status. Specific contractor terms will be outlined in the independent contractor agreement.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

Clinical Assessment & Treatment Planning

  • Conduct appropriate, empirically supported behavioral assessments and evaluations within the scope of BCBA practice.
  • Develop, implement, and monitor individualized behavior intervention and treatment plans.
  • Conduct and oversee Functional Behavior Assessments (FBAs) and other behavioral evaluations as clinically appropriate.
  • Develop function-based interventions and replacement skills addressing behavioral, adaptive, social, and communication needs.
  • Review treatment effectiveness and modify programs based on data, clinical findings, and participant progress.
  • Ensure treatment plans and clinical recommendations are consistent with applicable funding-source requirements and professional standards.
  • Maintain continuity of care and promote consistent implementation of behavioral interventions.

Data Collection & Clinical Documentation

  • Establish and maintain appropriate data collection and measurement systems.
  • Analyze behavioral data to evaluate treatment effectiveness and guide clinical decision-making.
  • Ensure documentation is accurate, complete, timely, and consistent with applicable regulatory and funding requirements.
  • Prepare assessments, treatment plans, progress reports, clinical notes, and other required documentation.
  • Maintain appropriate records while protecting participant confidentiality and privacy.
  • Communicate with funding sources and other authorized stakeholders regarding treatment progress, authorizations, and clinical needs as appropriate.

Staff Consultation, Training & Supervision

  • Provide consultation and clinical guidance to direct-care staff regarding behavior plans and treatment implementation.
  • Train and coach staff in the principles and practical application of Applied Behavior Analysis (ABA).
  • Model effective implementation of behavior intervention plans and evidence-based behavioral strategies.
  • Provide training and modeling related to adaptive skills, social skills, communication, and behavior management.
  • Conduct in-service training and educational workshops as clinically appropriate.
  • Monitor staff implementation of behavior plans and provide feedback to promote treatment fidelity.
  • Provide consultation regarding crisis prevention, de-escalation strategies, and appropriate behavioral responses.
  • Support staff in understanding and appropriately implementing individualized behavioral interventions.

Collaboration & Communication

  • Collaborate with families, caregivers, clinical professionals, program staff, and other members of the participant's treatment team.
  • Participate in treatment team meetings and case consultations as appropriate.
  • Communicate professionally and effectively with participants, families, staff, clinical leadership, and funding sources.
  • Consult with team members regarding behavior plans, accommodations, curriculum modifications, and social and communication skills.
  • Promote a collaborative, respectful, and person-centered approach to behavioral services.
  • Maintain professional boundaries and ethical standards in all interactions.

Compliance, Quality & Professional Standards

  • Ensure behavior support plans and related services are accurate, current, and consistent with applicable individual service plans, quality standards, regulations, and funding requirements.
  • Maintain current BCBA certification and comply with applicable Behavior Analyst Certification Board (BACB) requirements.
  • Maintain appropriate professional development and continuing education.
  • Follow applicable ethical standards governing the practice of behavior analysis.
  • Protect confidential participant information in accordance with HIPAA and other applicable privacy requirements.
  • Promote participant dignity, safety, rights, and quality of life.
  • Provide clinical recommendations and services consistent with professional scope of practice.
  • Perform other clinically appropriate duties outlined in the independent contractor agreement.

Requirements

Minimum Qualifications (Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities)

  • Master’s degree in education, psychology or related field and with recognition as a Board-Certified Behavior Analyst (BCBA) by the BACB with an assigned certification number or 3 years of experience providing services to those with intellectual disabilities or behavioral challenges as a Board Certified Behavior Analyst (BCBA).
  • Maintained certification with the BACB with current and relevant continuing education.
  • Demonstrated leadership experience with ABA while in service to others.
  • Demonstrated ability to ensure quality services while adhering to mandated rules and regulations with proven ethics while upholding the rights of participants and their families.
  • Ethically responsible
  • Strong communication skills with an ability to collaborate and work with diverse staff and clinical teams.
  • Ability to lead others and effectively solve problems independently.
  • Creative abilities with effective organizational and time management skills
  • Maintain a high degree of organization and meet assigned deadlines.
  • Work productively to build relationships with participants, staff members, and funding sources.
  • Demonstrate flexibility while learning new skills and working with others.
  • Demonstrates and understands the Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act (HIPPA) as it pertains to our services and the protection of our program participants.
  • Access to a registered vehicle with proof of insurance and the ability to travel as assigned.
  • Must be at least 21 years of age.
  • Must pass background investigation that includes FBI/DOJ fingerprint check.

Independent Contractor Requirements

As a 1099 independent contractor, the BCBA will be responsible for:

  • Maintaining active BCBA certification and all required professional credentials.
  • Maintaining any required professional liability/malpractice insurance.
  • Providing a current W-9 and other required contractor documentation.
  • Managing and paying applicable federal, state, and local taxes associated with independent contractor income.
  • Maintaining appropriate records related to services provided and invoices submitted.
  • Providing services in accordance with the terms and conditions of the independent contractor agreement.
  • Maintaining confidentiality and complying with applicable laws, regulations, professional standards, and funding-source requirements.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience working with individuals with autism and/or intellectual and developmental disabilities.
  • Experience working within regional center, Medicaid, behavioral health, or other healthcare-funded service systems.
  • Experience training and mentoring direct-care staff.
  • Experience working with multidisciplinary treatment teams.
  • Strong knowledge of positive behavior supports, crisis prevention, and de-escalation strategies.
