About this Consultant in Real Estate Advisory - Newport Beach, CA role at The Concord Group

The Concord Group · Onsite · Newport Beach, California, United States

The Concord Group (TCG) advises developers, investors, public agencies, and other decision-makers to understand markets, evaluate opportunities, and make better development and investment decisions.

We are building the next generation of TCG Consultants. We seek intellectually curious, analytically strong professionals with approximately two to five years of experience who want to build a career in real estate consulting.

Our Consultants ask the right questions, determine what matters, exercise judgment, and communicate a clear point of view. We are using proprietary tools, new data capabilities, and AI to streamline research and give our teams more time to interpret information, solve problems, and advise clients.

Why TCG

You will work in small teams alongside senior TCG professionals, with early exposure to developers, investors, and other real estate decision-makers. Your analysis will help shape real projects: what to build, who to serve, how to position it, and what the market can support.

Assignments span markets nationally and property types including multifamily housing, mixed-use development, for-sale residential, retail, hospitality, and master-planned communities. You will build a broad perspective on how developers and investors make decisions and see how your recommendations inform those decisions.

Working closely with experienced advisors gives you direct exposure to how they frame problems, test assumptions, and communicate with clients when the answer is uncertain. For professionals ready for greater responsibility, TCG offers the opportunity to develop an analytical voice and direct substantive portions of engagements.

What You Will Do

·        Structure market, economic, demographic, and competitive analyses around the client’s decision.

·        Evaluate demand, rents, pricing, absorption, product positioning, and competitive supply; develop defensible recommendations.

·        Synthesize data, market interviews, and site observations into a clear story for clients.

·        Prepare client-ready presentations, memoranda, exhibits, and market studies.

·        Use Excel, data platforms, mapping tools, and AI to make analysis faster, deeper, and more customized; check sources and results.

·        Conduct site visits and interviews with developers, brokers, property managers, and other market participants.

·        Direct portions of engagements, coordinate team contributions, and participate actively in client discussions and presentations.

Requirements

We are selective about the people we bring into our Consultant team. We value demonstrated consulting skills and professional achievement more than a particular résumé path. Direct real estate experience is valuable but not required.

·        Exceptional analytical and problem-solving ability, with strong quantitative skills and comfort working with data.

·        The ability to synthesize substantial information and move from analysis to interpretation and recommendation.

·        Clear, concise writing and confident verbal communication; an interest in storytelling and client service.

·        Intellectual curiosity, sound judgment, and a willingness to test assumptions and revise a view when the evidence changes.

·        Initiative, resourcefulness, organization, and ownership of the quality and timeliness of your work.

·        An interest in real estate, development, cities, economics, consumer behavior, or related fields.

Relevant backgrounds include management or economic consulting, finance, capital markets, development, investment, brokerage research, planning, and data analytics. We welcome candidates who can demonstrate how their experience would translate into thoughtful advice for real estate clients.

Interesting and Interested

Our best Consultants are both interesting and interested. We value people with interests beyond their résumé and a habit of asking the next question. Why does one apartment project command higher rents? What makes a neighborhood work for retail? Why are people choosing one city over another?

That curiosity extends to the client: understanding what they are trying to accomplish, which decisions matter, and how our work can help. You should enjoy forming a point of view, explaining your reasoning, and changing your mind when warranted. Interests in business, design, culture, politics, or entirely different subjects can bring useful perspective to the work.

Benefits

Growth comes through increasing responsibility and demonstrated judgment. Successful Consultants progress to leading substantial portions of engagements, presenting findings to clients, guiding other team members, and building client relationships. Working closely with senior professionals provides ongoing opportunities for feedback and development.
