Northrop Grumman Defense Systems is seeking a forward-thinking Configuration Management and Data Management Analyst (Digital Engineering) to join a collaborative, multidisciplinary team in Plymouth, Minnesota, supporting critical programs for our defense customers.

 

This role is part of the Armament Systems Configuration and Data Management Team that focuses on providing tools, processes and subject matter expertise for configuration and data management activities across our programs, suppliers, and partners for all engineering programs. Analysts are key program drivers managing product configuration baselines (Functional, Allocated and Product) and releases through Product Lifecycle Management (PLM) tools, JIRA, Bitbucket, SharePoint, and Model-Based Systems Engineering (MBSE) tools. As our programs evolve, our CM/DM team is actively bridging the gap between traditional data management and modern digital engineering environments.

 

Position Description

Program Analysts are at the forefront of program strategy, requiring a project management mindset and the ability to drive innovation thinking in a digital engineering environment. These individuals create, update, and maintain program Configuration Management (CM) and Data Management (DM) Plans, integrating aspects of systems engineering models and program build management to ensure comprehensive programmatic alignment across various program or project Integrated Product Teams (IPTs).

 

This role is integral to supporting the department’s digital transformation initiatives. You will serve as a catalyst for innovation and a baseline driver by executing the following core responsibilities:

 

• Manage the configuration of systems engineering models and related software to ensure proper control and traceability of program artifacts throughout their lifecycle. Apply workflows such as branch management, model merging, version tagging, and conflict resolution within collaborative modeling repositories.
• Perform foundational data management and configuration control mechanics—including data entry, engineering drawing interpretation, hardware part release tracking, and meticulous spreadsheet or log management—ensuring that day-to-day tactical execution remains flawless.
• Drive data integration efforts to ensure that technical data flows seamlessly across systems, enabling informed decision-making, unbroken digital thread traceability, and enhanced program performance.
• Lead efforts to manage change through effective oversight of Configuration Control Boards (CCBs), driving the processes for Change Notices (CNs), Engineering Change Proposals (ECPs), and Requests for Variance (RFVs) to ensure program milestones are met without compromising quality or compliance.
• Coordinate the generation, release, and delivery of Contract/Supplier Data Requirements Listings (CDRLs/SDRLs). Align stakeholder inputs to ensure that the program progresses efficiently while maintaining contractual obligations and technical excellence

This position may be filled at the Level 2 or Level 3 Configuration Management and Data Management Analyst grade, based on the candidate’s education and experience.

 

Qualifications for Configuration Management and Data Management Analyst (Level 2)

• Bachelor’s degree in Information Technology, Computer Information Systems, Business/Project Management, Library & Information Science, Data Analytics, Systems Engineering, or a related technical discipline
• 2+ years of relevant experience in Configuration Management (CM)/Data Management (DM); Or Master’s degree in lieu of 2 yrs’ experience
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications (Word, Excel, PowerPoint)
• Experience working configuration management in a highly regulated industry Experience managing configuration baselines within a model-based or software-driven repository environment (e.g., branch management, merging, version control, and repository governance).
• Must be a U.S. Citizen and must have the ability to obtain a DOD security clearance to a level of Secret..
• Experience understanding and translating contractual requirements into program planning activities
• Experience with product lifecycle management (PLM) and data management tools
• Experience managing customer deliverables (CDRLs) and supplier deliverables (SDRLs)
• Experience with Project Management

 

Qualifications for Principal Configuration Management and Data Management Analyst (Level 3)

• Bachelor’s degree in Information Technology, Computer Information Systems, Business/Project Management, Library & Information Science, Data Analytics, Systems Engineering, or a related technical discipline
• 5+ years of relevant experience in Configuration Management (CM) and/or Data Management (DM) OR a Master’s degree plus 2+ years of relevant experience in CM/DM
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications (Word, Excel, PowerPoint)
• Experience working configuration management in a highly regulated industry
• Experience managing configuration baselines within a model-based or software-driven repository environment (e.g., branch management, merging, version control, and repository governance).Must be a U.S. Citizen and must have the ability to obtain a DOD security clearance to a level of Secret..
• Experience understanding and translating contractual requirements into program planning activities
• Experience with product lifecycle management (PLM) and data management tools
• Experience managing customer deliverables (CDRLs) and supplier deliverables (SDRLs)

Preferred Qualifications: 

• Engagement in 1-2 professional engineering or project management organizations
• Experience with Siemens Product Lifecycle Management (PLM) Tool Teamcenter Active Workspace (TcUA)
• Direct experience performing CM/DM tasks within Cameo Systems Modeler, Cameo Enterprise Architect, or Teamwork Cloud (TWC).
• Experience with MRP System SAP
• Experience with Cameo System Modeler or Cameo Enterprise Architect
• Experience in aerospace industry
• Experience using Bitbucket, Confluence, and Jira
• Familiarity with Export Control regulations (EAR/ITAR)
• Experience applying the CM/DM Standard of ANSI/EIA-649, as well as the American Society of Mechanical Engineers (ASME) Standards – Specifically ASME Y14.100, Y14.34, Y14.35, and Y14.5-2009 (or later)
• Knowledge of MIL-STD-31000 and the proper application for drawing generation and Technical Data Package (TDP) deliveries.
• Experience supporting and presenting at program reviews with our customers
• Knowledge of Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) systems for part and component part number entry and revision control for manufacturing and builds at the various factory locations
• Familiar with drafting practices and design drawing interpretation, including program contract requirements application and verification

 

Primary Level Salary Range: $72,400.00 - $108,600.00

Secondary Level Salary Range: $89,900.00 - $134,900.00

The above salary range represents a general guideline; however, Northrop Grumman considers a number of factors when determining base salary offers such as the scope and responsibilities of the position and the candidate's experience, education, skills and current market conditions.

Depending on the position, employees may be eligible for overtime, shift differential, and a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay. Annual bonuses are designed to reward individual contributions as well as allow employees to share in company results. Employees in Vice President or Director positions may be eligible for Long Term Incentives. In addition, Northrop Grumman provides a variety of benefits including health insurance coverage, life and disability insurance, savings plan, Company paid holidays and paid time off (PTO) for vacation and/or personal business.
