About this Commissioning Assistant role at Giga Energy
About Giga
Giga is building gigawatts of AI data centers to hasten a future of intelligence and abundance. We build data centers fast and at scale by combining the capabilities of an equipment supplier, engineering firm, general contractor, and real estate developer under one roof. Our team moves quickly and thinks practically. If you're ready to make an impact in an industry that matters, we're looking for people like you.
Why join Giga
- The Pace: We're building at a speed most companies talk about but never actually operate at. If you've been bored somewhere else, you won't be here.
- The Impact: Every person at Giga touches the work that matters. No layers, no waiting for approval chains. You'll see your fingerprints on what we ship.
- The Team: A team of operators defining the future of AI infrastructure. We recruit A-players from the most innovative companies in the world, and they choose Giga because the work here means more.
- The Moment: AI doesn't run without power, and that's us. Giga is the picks and shovels behind the AI revolution. This industry is about to explode, and you'll be in the room where it's already happening.
What you’ll do
Before a data center can go live, every test result, every deficiency, and every sign-off has to be tracked, documented, and accounted for — and that record has to be airtight. As a Cx Assistant at Giga, you're the person making sure nothing falls through the cracks. You'll support the Commissioning Manager and Site Leads with documentation, scheduling, and test coordination, learning the commissioning process from the ground up on some of the most complex buildings being constructed today. This is a great entry point into commissioning for someone detail-obsessed who wants to build toward a Site Lead or Cx Lead career path.
Where you’ll work
This is an on-site position that requires long-term travel and/or short-term relocation. This person should be comfortable with 3-6 month periods of being at a location before moving to the next.
Responsibilities
- Support the Commissioning Manager and Site Leads with day-to-day administration of commissioning activities across MEP, electrical, and controls systems
- Maintain and organize the commissioning record package, including test results, deficiency logs, submittals, and as-built documentation
- Track deficiencies identified during testing through to closure, following up with vendors and trades on outstanding items
- Assist in preparing commissioning plans, FPT scripts, and IST procedures for review by the Commissioning Manager
- Help coordinate subcontractor and vendor schedules for systems startup and functional testing activities
- Attend and take notes during pre-functional inspections, functional tests, and integrated systems tests, flagging observations to the Site Lead or Commissioning Manager
- Support punch list tracking and help compile documentation for owner turnover and final acceptance
- Assist with RFI and submittal tracking related to commissioning scope
Requirements
- 0-2 years of experience in commissioning, construction, or a related technical field; internship or field experience on mission-critical or industrial construction projects a plus
- Familiarity with MEP and electrical systems (generators, UPS, switchgear, cooling infrastructure, BMS/controls) through coursework, internships, or early field experience
- Strong organizational skills and comfort managing detailed documentation across multiple active workstreams
- Ability to read basic construction drawings and specifications, with willingness to build deeper technical fluency on the job
- Comfortable working in an active, fast-moving construction environment alongside multiple trades and vendors
Bonus points
- Coursework or certificate in mechanical, electrical, or construction management disciplines
- Exposure to hyperscale or colocation data center projects
- Familiarity with Procore, Bluebeam, or commissioning-specific platforms (e.g., Cx Alloy, FACTSuite)
- Experience in high-growth, startup, or accelerated-schedule environments
How We Work
We value people who take ownership, raise risks early, communicate directly, and follow through. Incomplete information is part of the job. Make the best decision you can, document it, and adjust as the facts change. Move quickly on reversible decisions and take more care when security, safety, financial, employee, or customer risk is involved.
Benefits
- Subsidized health, dental, and vision insurance
- Equity (options) in a rapidly growing startup
- 401(k) with 4% employer match
- Unlimited PTO
- Parental leave
- Healthcare and Dependent Care Flexible Spending Accounts (FSA) or Health Savings Account (HSA)
- Commuter benefits, where applicable
- Opportunities to collaborate in person at periodic team and company on-sites
