Capability Life Cycle Manager (CLCM)  

The CLCM is integrated into the System Program Office (SPO) and contracted to deliver through-life asset management of Products being supported (PBS). The CLCM performs asset, sustainment and engineering functions to optimise availability and Total Cost of Ownership (TCO) and minimise risk through life of the PBS. The CLCM works collaboratively via the SPO with Regional Maintenance Centre’s (RMC) to plan maintenance activities and installation of capability upgrades. The CLCM works collaboratively via the SPO with the Design Services Contract (DSC) to plan and execute engineering changes and services. The CLCM delivers functions against the contract scope across the Asset Class Enterprise to support Defence Maritime Capability.

 

The Opportunity:

Join KBR as a Combat Systems Engineer and play a key role in supporting the delivery of engineering services across Combat Management Systems and Communications Systems. Working alongside experienced engineers, you will provide trusted technical advice to Commonwealth representatives and key stakeholders, contributing to the sustainment and ongoing performance of critical maritime capabilities.


In this role, you will apply your expertise across Combat Management, sensors and effectors, Internal and External Communications Systems, including RF, satellite and shipborne information technology on the Products Being Supported. You will collaborate with a broad range of stakeholders, providing guidance on technical matters, supporting engineering activities, and helping to deliver effective, risk-based outcomes.


As a holder of an Engineering delegation, you will contribute technical advice on sustainment activities that support the ACSSPO Principal Engineer on PBS. This is an opportunity to work within a highly collaborative environment, influence important engineering decisions, and support the capability and readiness of complex Defence systems.

 

Responsibilities:


  • Under general supervision deliver Combat Management and Communications Systems Engineering expertise and technical advice, in support of the Engineering activities required of the CLCM.
  • Primarily work to understand and identify technical risks to integration, compatibility and cybersecurity with a view to deconflict competing design requirements to assure that risks are mitigated in design conducted by external agencies, partners and stakeholders.
  • Perform activities directed by the CLCM Senior Combat Systems Engineer and ACSSPO Principal Engineer (PE) as required.
  • Deliver engineering activities to ensure compliance with approved policy, plans and processes. Conduct work to the requirements of the Engineering Management Plan.
  • Develop tasking statements for design tasks to be executed in accordance with the planned schedule.
  • Work within a multidisciplinary team to develop design solutions and requirements in the context of Engineering Change Management, Configuration management, Systems Safety and Certification.
  • Review engineering design task deliverables and conduct associated technical Design Reviews.
  • Conduct technical risk assessments within the limits of engineering delegation.
  • Conduct Systems Engineering verification activities.
  • Work within and to the requirements of Navy Seaworthiness Program and the Authorised Engineering Organisation (AEO).
  • Verify new Request for Problem Resolution (RPR) against the approved Requirements baseline, Certification Basis and Safety Case Report on the PBS.
  • Manage Request for Variations (RFV) assigned prior to expiry date to Return to Standard (RTS), Make Permanent or cancellation.
  • Formulate solutions to problems by working collaboratively with various internal and external stakeholders.
  • Under general supervision, independently evaluate, select and apply standard engineering techniques, procedures, calculations and criteria, using judgment in making minor adaptations and modifications.
  • Under supervision, perform work which involves conventional engineering practice and assessment but may include a variety of complex features such as conflicting design requirements, systems integration, unsuitability of conventional materials, and difficult coordination requirements.

As the ideal candidate you will bring:


Essential:

  • Bachelor of Engineering, or equivalent, qualification in a recognised Engineering related discipline;
  • Experience with Requirements Development, Design Review and Acceptance within a regulated technical framework, example Department of Defence.
  • Hold, or be eligible for, membership of a recognised professional body and registration as Chartered Engineering;
  • A minimum of 10 years related experience.
  • Must be eligible for ITAR clearance of relevant ship systems.

Desirable:

  • Experience in a Department of Defence design delivery.
  • Experience in marine design or maintenance.

 

All candidates will be required to hold and maintain an active Baseline Defence Security Clearance. Only candidates holding a Baseline Clearance or above should apply.
