About the Role
Redhorse transforms the way government uses data and technology. To support this mission, we are seeking a self-motivated Cyber Software Developer to solve some of the most challenging technical problems in a fast-paced environment supporting national security.
In this role, you will apply advanced software development, reverse engineering (RE), and vulnerability research (VR) skills to design, develop, and deliver cyber tools that support critical defensive and offensive cyber requirements. As a senior member of our team, you will build and enhance operational software with minimal oversight, while having the unique opportunity to mentor junior personnel and shape the future of national cyber capabilities.
Key Responsibilities
- Design, develop, test, and deploy production-quality cyber tools and software capabilities to meet mission-critical customer requirements.
- Apply expertise in vulnerability research, reverse engineering, and exploit development to guide high-level software design decisions.
- Build and maintain operational tooling that supports both defensive and offensive cyber missions.
- Collaborate with researchers, analysts, and stakeholders to translate complex research findings into functional, scalable software.
- Implement proactive feedback mechanisms and iterative development practices to manage and exceed customer expectations.
- Lead code reviews, maintain high coding standards, and ensure software quality through rigorous testing and documentation.
- Synthesize creative technical solutions from diverse operational and technical information sources.
- Identify and communicate operational requirements with internal and external stakeholders to align technical output with mission goals.
Required Experience/Clearance
- 3+ years of experience in cyber software development.
- Active Top Secret / SCI security clearance.
- 3+ years of experience in contemporary programming languages including C, C++, Python, Java, JavaScript, and Swift.
- 3+ years of experience developing cyber tools, exploits, or operational software for offensive or defensive missions.
- 3+ years of hands-on experience with reverse engineering tools such as IDA Pro, Ghidra, OllyDbg, Jeb, Frida, or Windbg.
- 3+ years of experience analyzing iOS, Android, Windows, or embedded applications and OS kernel modules.
- Deep understanding of operating system internals, memory management, and low-level systems programming.
- Experience with modern software development practices including version control (Git), CI/CD, and automated testing.
- Strong written and oral communication skills for stakeholder engagement.
Desired Experience
We encourage all candidates who meet the basic requirements to apply, even if you do not have any of the following experience:
- Experience with network protocol analysis and static/dynamic malware analysis on mobile platforms (iOS/Android).
- Knowledge of advanced exploit development techniques and mitigation bypass strategies.
- Proficiency in workflow automation, build systems, and specialized toolchain development.
- Familiarity with Agile development methodologies and tools such as Jira or Confluence.
