CNC Structural Steel Machine Operator

Location: York, PA
Job Type: Contract to Hire
Shift: 2nd Shift
Pay: Starting at $22.00/hour, with higher pay available depending on experience
2nd Shift Differential: +$3.00/hour

Position Overview

Seeking a CNC Machine Operator to work with structural steel components such as beams, columns, and channels. This role involves CNC equipment operation, material movement, machine setup, measurements, and quality checks.

Responsibilities

  • Prepare and operate CNC coping and cutting equipment.
  • Process structural steel beams, columns, channels, and other components.
  • Review shop drawings and dimensions before and during production.
  • Move steel materials using overhead cranes and forklifts.
  • Perform programmed coping, cutting, drilling, and related machine operations.
  • Check completed parts with tape measures, calipers, squares, and other measuring tools.
  • Change tooling and make basic machine adjustments as needed.
  • Troubleshoot basic CNC equipment issues and perform routine machine maintenance.
  • Keep the work area clean, organized, and safe.
  • Maintain production schedules while meeting quality standards.

    • Qualifications

  • 2+ years of CNC machine operation experience.
  • CNC coping or beam line experience strongly preferred.
  • Structural steel fabrication experience preferred.
  • Ability to read and interpret blueprints and structural steel shop drawings.
  • Experience with machine setup, tooling changes, and basic CNC troubleshooting.
  • Skilled in using tape measures, calipers, squares, and other measuring equipment.
  • Experience working with overhead cranes and forklifts.
  • Strong attention to detail and commitment to workplace safety and product quality.
