CNC Machine Operators are responsible for operation of CNC Machine including lathes, grinders, mills, brake presses etc

Responsibilities:

  • Responsible for CNC machinery, demonstrating proficiency in fixtures, tooling, controls and conducting ongoing equipment maintenance and care

  • Sets up and operates heavy duty power press to bend and form metal plates, metal extrusions, formed sheet metal, structural shapes, forgings, and weldments by performing the following duties. Individuals in this classification are training on several forming machines but not all of the following: large press brake, small press brake, roll forming machine, and straightening press.

  • Conduct minimal deburring and surface protection on workpieces

  • Take detailed measurements and preliminary evaluations to ensure workpiece acceptability

  • Perform changes and minor adjustments of all tooling and attachments in the machine; troubleshoot and resolve issues that arise during machining process

  • Maintain comprehensive documentation and records relating to production, downtime, quality and other relevant metrics

  • Assist in fixture set up

  • Consistently meet minimum production output and quality standards

  • Responsible for area housekeeping including machine, storage area, etc.

  • Ensure that these activities are carried out in accordance with current company policies and procedures, especially following safety guidelines

Requirements:

  • High School Diploma or equivalent and 1 or more years of recent machine operation experience, preferably in a metal cutting and/or fabrication industry

  • Able to measure accurately using various measuring tools as well as perform basic shop math and blueprint reading

  • Must be able to lift up to 35 pounds

Successful candidates will be able to demonstrate these skillsets:

  • Knowledge of operating requirements

  • Experience with manufacturing equipment, including different types of cutting tools and their appropriate usage

  • Effective communication with team members, supervisors and engineers

  • Understand entire manufacturing processes, standards procedures and polices

  • Operates with manufacturing safety

* Hiring for 1st, 2nd, and 3rd shift. All training will be on 1st shift for up to 2 months before moving to hired shift.

Summary Pay Range:

$22.50 - $29.20

Compensation and benefits offered may vary depending on multiple individualized factors, job level, market location, job-related knowledge, skills, individual performance and experience. Please note that salary is only one component of total compensation at Caterpillar.
