Role: Clinical Site Veterinarian

As a Clinical Veterinarian at Elanco, you will serve as a strategic technical lead and hands-on practitioner for a variety of companion, laboratory, and food animal species on site. Utilize your clinical expertise to safeguard animal welfare while advancing global health solutions. Your Responsibilities: 

• Clinical Mentorship: Serve as a lead clinician and advisor for site personnel, collaborating with cross-departmental project teams. Oversee and perform technical procedures, diagnostic observations, and high-standard sample/data collection.
• Preventative Medicine & Hands-On Care: Direct colony and herd health and drive site biosecurity. Implement treatments and evaluations, ensuring the highest standard of animal care and ethical disposition.
• Technical Education: Train staff in clinical techniques, while staying at the forefront of the field through supported continuing education and external collaboration.
• Strategic Protocol Consultation: Act as a key consultant on animal welfare and clinical components during the development of research protocols, ensuring our clinical care goes above and beyond USDA and AAALAC standards.

What You Need to Succeed (minimum qualifications): 

• Education: DVM required, and a current license to practice in the United States. 
• Required Experience: Strong field and clinical skills. 
• Top skills: Collaborative veterinarian experience and a strong ability to work both independently and in multi-disciplinary teams. 

• What Will Give You a Competitive Edge (preferred qualifications): 
• Licensed and accredited veterinarian in the state of Iowa. 
• Experience with USDA regulations, the Guide for the Care and Use of Laboratory Animals, and the Guide for the Care and Use of Agricultural Animals in Research and Teaching. 
• 3+ years working in an Animal Welfare-regulated environment or working in the Animal Health industry with pre-clinical and clinical model understanding.

Additional Information: 

• Travel: <10% annually 
• Rotate on-call schedule shared with site veterinarians for Research & Development (R&D) studies and Manufacturing & Quality (M&Q) product release activities. 
• Location: Fort Dodge, IA
