About this Civil Engineering Specialist role at STV
STV is seeking a Civil Engineering Specialist to join our Buildings team in Philadelphia or Douglassville, Pennsylvania. This is an excellent opportunity for an early-career civil engineer to contribute to a diverse portfolio of commercial, institutional, public-sector, educational, and transportation-related projects. Working alongside experienced engineers and project managers, you will support the planning, design, permitting, and construction of site and land development projects from concept through completion.
Responsibilities
- Assist with the design and production of civil engineering plans for land development and site improvement projects.
- Prepare construction documents, permit applications, technical reports, calculations, and supporting design documentation.
- Develop site grading, drainage, stormwater management, utility, and erosion & sediment control designs.
- Utilize AutoCAD Civil 3D to prepare site layouts, construction drawings, and engineering models.
- Coordinate with architects, structural engineers, MEP engineers, project managers, and other stakeholders to deliver integrated design solutions.
- Support project permitting efforts and coordinate with regulatory agencies and local jurisdictions.
- Review contractor RFIs, shop drawings, and submittals during construction.
- Assist with construction administration and field observation activities as required.
- Support project schedules, budgets, and quality control processes.
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering from an accredited program.
- 1–3 years of relevant civil engineering or land development experience.
- Engineer-in-Training (EIT) certification preferred.
- Proficiency with AutoCAD Civil 3D and related design software.
- Knowledge of site design, grading, utility layouts, stormwater management, and erosion and sediment control principles.
- Familiarity with local, state, and federal permitting requirements and applicable engineering standards.
- Strong technical, organizational, and problem-solving skills.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills with the ability to work effectively in a collaborative team environment.
