About this Civil Engineer (Contract) role at AMODA
We are seeking a skilled and detail-oriented Civil Engineer to join our Product Engineering team. You will be the on-site extension of our engineers and architects: conducting initial site surveys, ensuring what is built matches the approved design, and keeping projects on schedule and within budget. You will work closely with product, MEP, and structural engineers, drafters, project managers, and installation teams to deliver modular and prefabricated buildings using AMODA’s Panel System.
Job Responsibilities
- Conduct initial site surveys (measurements, contours, existing conditions, site access) and submit survey reports within SLA.
- Act as the on-site representative of the engineering and architectural design team, ensuring design intent is implemented accurately.
- Supervise and monitor daily site activities to ensure compliance with shop drawings, specifications, schedules, and safety standards.
- Supervise panel installation according to standard installation modules and complete the deployment checklist for every project.
- Conduct stage-by-stage quality inspections (foundation, frame/panel, MEP, finishing) and maintain as-built and photo documentation.
- Track project milestones and raise early warnings to the Project Manager on potential delays.
- Document every site change and report it to the engineering team; no execution without PM approval.
- Coordinate with subcontractors, suppliers, and installation workforce; optimize work sequence and manpower to reduce on-site labour cost per sqm.
- Monitor material usage on site to prevent shortages, wastage, and cost overrun.
- Provide installation feedback to engineering to continuously improve modules and standard details.
- Prepare and maintain weekly site reports, schedules, and other project documentation.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering or a related field.
- Minimum 2 years of work experience as a Civil/Site Engineer in the construction industry.
- Experience with prefabricated, modular, or panel-system construction (e.g., light steel frame, sandwich/composite panels) is strongly preferred.
- Strong knowledge of construction processes, materials, and building regulations.
- Able to read and verify shop drawings, technical drawings, and specifications.
- Experienced in site surveying and measuring tools (laser distance meter, waterpass/level); total station is a plus.
- Proficiency in AutoCAD and MS Office; SketchUp and project tracking tools are a plus.
- Good understanding of on-site cost control and labour productivity.
- Excellent problem-solving, organizational, communication, and coordination skills.
- Valid driver’s license (SIM A/C) and willingness to travel to various project sites, including out of town.
- Proficiency in English is a plus.
