Senior Engineering Manager / Chapter Lead (Data Engineering)

  • Lead data engineering capability for a critical data platforms crew within Economic Crime

  • Shape modern data platforms, controls and engineering practices across a large-scale data environment.

  • Help CommBank advance future-ready technology, data, AI and GenAI capabilities.

Do Work That Matters

Financial Crime Compliance is an integral part of CBA’s Group Risk function and is accountable for the development, implementation and ongoing governance of the Group’s financial crime compliance program, including Anti-Money Laundering and Counter-Terrorism Financing, Sanctions, Anti-Bribery and Corruption, and Anti-Tax Evasion risks and obligations.

As Senior Engineering Manager, you’ll lead a specialist data engineering chapter that supports products and services across Economic Crime. Your time will be spent 50% hands-on engineering by contributing directly to solution design, architecture, coding, technical reviews, platform uplift, troubleshooting and the delivery of trusted data products, as well as 50% people and capability leadership: coaching engineers, setting engineering standards, managing performance, building capability and aligning delivery with strategic priorities helping the crew move towards modern AWS, Snowflake, AI, ML and AI-powered engineering practices.

Bring your ambition and we’ll help you grow, belong and shape what’s to come in a team solving complex risk, data and technology challenges at meaningful scale.

  • Partner with the Crew Tech Lead, Financial Crime Compliance, Risk, Operations, Technology, Data Governance and enterprise business teams to align delivery with strategic priorities, technology KPIs and OKRs.

  • Strengthen data quality, lineage, reconciliation, monitoring, observability, automation and reporting controls.

  • Help modernise financial crime technology, data and reporting capabilities as part of the broader economic crime transformation agenda.

  • Champion DevSecOps, platform health, vulnerability reduction, operational resilience and secure, scalable engineering practices.
