Position Summary

The CG Supervisor provides technical and creative leadership for a project’s CG pipeline. Balancing artistic vision with technical feasibility, you will drive innovative workflows, manage rendering and storage resources, and proactively mitigate project risks.

In this role, you will collaborate closely with VFX Supervisors, Producers, and Department Leads to ensure seamless execution within schedule and budget. Beyond technical oversight, we look to our CG Supervisors to model strong leadership—fostering transparent communication, driving accountability, and actively mentoring the crew.

What You’ll Do

Technical & Pipeline Innovation

  • Optimize Workflows: Drive cross-pipeline efficiency and establish optimized methodologies alongside department Supervisors and Leads.

  • Future-Proof the Studio: Explore emerging technologies (including AI/Machine Learning), verify show requirements, and collaborate with engineering leadership to develop new workflows.

  • Pipeline Support: Oversee pipeline ticket queues, conduct initial investigations, and collaborate with department supervisors to prioritize critical technical issues.

  • Asset & Data Security: Oversee secure digital asset management, maintain technical documentation, and ensure compliance with content protection/IP standards.

Project & Resource Management

  • Resource Forecasting: Project and manage show render and storage needs, working with Production and Digital Resource Managers (DRMs) to prevent bottlenecks.

  • Risk Mitigation: Proactively identify and manage pipeline risks or production threats, establishing clear contingency plans for stakeholders.

  • Bidding & Scope Support: Partner with VFX Supervisors and Producers to align creative demands with bidding assumptions, offering technical adaptations or rebidding strategies when needed.

  • Lifecycle Management: Oversee show start-up and wrap-up processes, managing CG Libraries and conducting End-of-Show Tool Audits with Pipeline TDs.

Leadership & Culture

  • Team Alignment: Cross-coordinate with fellow CG Supervisors to align development schedules and maintain tool consistency across teams.

  • Communication & Conflict Resolution: Deliver transparent, timely information, practice active listening, and navigate production conflicts constructively.

  • Mentorship: Invest time in coaching colleagues, sharing expertise openly, and cultivating an inclusive environment where the team feels empowered to grow.

What We’re Looking For

  • Experience: 8+ years of professional VFX experience with a relevant degree/diploma (Computer Graphics, Fine Arts, Design, etc.), OR 10+ years of experience in lieu of education.

  • Pipeline Expertise: Deep knowledge of both proprietary and third-party VFX pipelines and software.

  • OS & Scripting: Strong working knowledge of Linux. Python and shell scripting skills are a major asset.

  • Production Savvy: Superb problem-solving skills with a proven track record of managing time, prioritizing tasks under shifting demands, and providing accurate estimates.

  • Collaborative Spirit: Ability to engage constructively in the creative process, accept final creative decisions gracefully, and align efforts toward common project goals.

  • Leadership Mindset: A dedication to raising the bar for speed, quality, and adaptability while actively helping to grow junior and mid-level talent.

As part of your application please submit a demo reel, shot breakdown, or equivalent showcasing your work. A current resume is required.
