Your Opportunity 

This is a casual opportunity based at Castle Hill Village, working Monday to Friday, to support planned leave coverage and increased demand during the Christmas period. 

 

As a Cafe Chef, you will be responsible for overseeing the daily operation of the café, preparing high-quality meals, supporting café functions and ensuring exceptional service delivery. Working closely with the Food and Beverage Manager, you will help create menus, maintain food quality standards and deliver a positive dining experience for customers and residents. 

With professionalism, creativity and a customer-focused approach, you will: 

Food Preparation and Service Delivery 

  • Prepare, cook and present high-quality meals, café items and catering orders 

  • Ensure food is prepared and served to a consistently high standard 

  • Support the planning and delivery of café services and functions 

Kitchen Operations and Quality 

  • Support menu planning and seasonal menu updates 

  • Monitor food quality, storage, preparation and handling procedures 

  • Ensure stock levels are maintained and participate in stocktakes 

  • Maintain efficient kitchen operations and workflow processes 

Customer Experience 

  • Deliver excellent customer service to residents, visitors and guests 

  • Assist in promoting café services and supporting customer satisfaction initiatives 

Collaboration and Team Support 

  • Lead by example and contribute to a positive team culture 

  • Work collaboratively with kitchen, hospitality and village teams 

Safety and Compliance 

  • Maintain food safety, hygiene and cleanliness standards in line with HACCP requirements 

  • Follow workplace health and safety policies and procedures and report hazards 

  • Ensure equipment, workstations and food preparation areas are maintained safely and professionally 

What You'll Bring 

You are a passionate and customer-focused Chef who enjoys creating quality food and delivering memorable dining experiences. 

What's Required 

  • Commercial Cookery Certificate or equivalent qualification 

  • 2-3 years' experience within hospitality, catering or food service environments 

  • 2-3 years’ of experience in food preparation, kitchen operations and menu planning skills 

  • Food Safety Supervisor (FSS) certification. 

  • Excellent knowledge of food safety, hygiene and HACCP requirements 

  • Strong English literacy both spoken and written 

What's Preferred 

  • RSA, willingness to obtain  

  • Experience working within aged care, retirement living, healthcare or community settings 

  • Experience with ordering, stock control and food cost management 

  • Microsoft Office skills and general computer literacy 

  • Ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced environment
