Position Summary

We’re seeking a full-time Buyer for our Los Angeles-based corporate office. NYA SZN is seeking a Buyer, Trend & Assortment to help drive the commercial product strategy of the brand through trend intelligence, assortment opportunities, recolor strategy and customer insights. As NYA SZN continues to scale, this role will help ensure the assortment remains fashion forward, commercially relevant and closely connected to the evolving needs of the NYA SZN customer. The Buyer will continuously evaluate market trends, competitive activity, customer behavior and product performance to identify what NYA SZN should pursue next, what successful products should be expanded, and where opportunities exist within the assortment. A major focus of this role will be developing a disciplined recolor and repeat strategy that allows NYA SZN to maximize proven winners while continuing to introduce relevant newness. The Buyer will also help establish and evolve the brand's essential product offering, creating greater balance between fashion newness and repeatable core business. This role requires a strong fashion eye combined with commercial instincts, analytical thinking and a deep understanding of the NYA SZN customer.

Job Responsibilities

Trend & Market Intelligence

  • Own ongoing trend research across fashion, retail, social media, culture and the competitive landscape.
  • Identify emerging trends, silhouettes, colors, fabrics, prints, details and styling shifts relevant to the NYA SZN customer.
  • Translate broader market trends into clear product opportunities for NYA SZN.
  • Maintain awareness of competitor assortments, launches, pricing, best sellers and emerging product strategies.
  • Lead regular competitive shopping across digital and physical retail environments.
  • Distinguish short-term trend moments from opportunities that can evolve into repeatable NYA SZN product.
  • Present concise trend and market recommendations to the Brand Director and broader team.

Recolor & Repeat Strategy

  • Own the identification of recolor and repeat opportunities across the NYA SZN assortment.
  • Analyze product performance, including sales, CTR, conversion, inventory and customer response, to determine which products should be expanded.
  • Recommend strategic recolors based on product performance, seasonality, trend movement and customer demand.
  • Build and maintain a forward-looking recolor pipeline to ensure proven winners continue to generate productivity.
  • Identify opportunities to evolve successful silhouettes through color, fabrication, print or relevant product updates.
  • Partner with Merchandising, Planning, Supply Chain and vendors to support timely execution of approved recolor and repeat opportunities.

Assortment & Essentials Strategy

  • Identify assortment gaps and emerging product opportunities across NYA SZN categories.
  • Help establish and evolve a clear assortment of NYA SZN essentials and repeatable hero products.
  • Evaluate the balance between fashion newness, proven winners, recolors and essential product.
  • Identify opportunities to build greater depth around high-performing silhouettes, categories and customer needs.
  • Ensure key seasonal fashion moments and wardrobe needs are represented within the assortment.
  • Partner with the Brand Director on monthly and seasonal assortment priorities.

Product Performance & Customer Insights

  • Monitor product performance following launch to understand what is resonating with the NYA SZN customer.
  • Identify patterns across winning and underperforming products and translate those learnings into future assortment recommendations.
  • Use customer reviews, search behavior, product engagement and available performance data to identify product opportunities.
  • Establish a consistent feedback loop from launch performance into future assortment decisions.
  • Recommend when products should be repeated, recolored, evolved or exited.

Cross-Functional Partnership

  • Partner closely with the Brand Director to translate brand and business priorities into actionable assortment opportunities.
  • Work with Merchandising and Planning to understand category performance, inventory position and business opportunities.
  • Partner with the Senior Fit & Technical Specialist to ensure repeat and recolor opportunities maintain established NYA SZN fit standards.
  • Work closely with the Project Specialist to ensure approved product opportunities, recolors and repeats move through the development calendar on time.
  • Communicate product opportunities and assortment needs clearly to Supply Chain, suppliers, vendors and external partners.
  • Support alignment across teams so that trend, commercial opportunity, fit and execution work together as one product strategy.

What Success Looks Like

  • NYA SZN consistently identifies relevant trends early and translates them into commercially viable product opportunities.
  • Recolors and repeats become a disciplined and meaningful contributor to the business.
  • Proven winners are maximized rather than unnecessarily replaced with new product.
  • The assortment maintains a strong balance between fashion newness and dependable NYA SZN essentials.
  • Product decisions increasingly reflect customer behavior and performance data.
  • Assortment gaps are identified proactively rather than reactively.
  • NYA SZN develops stronger repeatable hero products and recognizable product categories.
  • Trend and market intelligence consistently translates into actionable recommendations for the business

Job Requirements
