About this Business Operations Lead role at Overflow
Who We Are
Overflow is a Series C, growth-stage technology company on a bold mission: to inspire the world to give. We're a vertical fintech and SaaS platform unlocking more ways to give — cash, stock, crypto, and beyond — through a beautifully designed ecosystem built for high-impact churches, nonprofits, and mission-driven institutions.
Backed by Uncork Capital, Craft Ventures, Salesforce Ventures, R7, and WIF (one of the largest lenders to faith and philanthropic organizations in the country), we're building the infrastructure that makes generosity frictionless at scale.
Our Founding Principles
Overflow was founded on the belief that generosity transforms people and communities. Inspired by Proverbs 11:24 — "The world of the generous gets larger and larger" — we operate with integrity, stewardship, service, and excellence.
How We Work
Overflow operates with a flexible work model. While there is no company-wide in-office requirement, some teams may establish in-person collaboration rhythms based on their function, goals, and team needs.
We maintain offices in Los Gatos, CA and Birmingham, AL for team collaboration, coworking, meetings, and intentional in-person connection. Candidates should be comfortable participating in occasional in-person gatherings or team-specific onsite expectations, depending on their role and department.
The Role
If our customers doubled, how would we support them? That's the question this role exists to answer. As our Senior Strategy & Operations Manager, AI, you'll report to the Chief Product Officer and build the systems, reporting, and AI-enabled workflows that let every Overflow team scale faster than our customer base. You'll find the manual work, then personally build the automated processes that replace it.
You automate your own workflows, build your own tools, and reach for AI by default. You'll also be Overflow's AI champion — spotting where AI can change how a function runs, bringing tools to teams beyond your own, and setting the visible example of AI-fluent operating company-wide.
You'll also bring support to our Payment Operations and Tap Operations teams. For internal tooling, you'll partner with dedicated engineering capacity as the de facto PM: scoping problems, making the case, and setting priorities.
What You Will Do
Build Strategic Operations, Hands-On
Stand up planning cadence, operating rhythms, and business reviews across the company.
Run cross-functional initiatives that span teams and need a single accountable owner.
Build Business Systems and AI Enablement
Map how work gets done across every team, find the manual work, and replace it with automated, AI-enabled processes you build yourself.
Champion AI adoption company-wide: find high-leverage use cases, pilot and roll out tools, and train teams until the new way of working sticks.
Own the company's tooling stack and business systems: select tools, make build-vs-buy decisions, and help every function use what they have well.
Act as de facto PM for internal tooling: turn vague pain points into scoped, prioritized asks for engineering, and build the rest yourself with no-code and AI tools.
Unify Reporting
Define the metrics each department needs and build one reporting layer that gives leadership a real-time view of how the company runs — without waiting on a data team.
Instrument the numbers that matter: cost-to-serve, customers supported per employee, cycle times, and payment health (volume, acceptance, chargeback ratio, settlement time).
Run the Operating Rhythm
Stand up planning cadence, operating rhythms, and business reviews across the company.
Own cross-functional initiatives that span teams and need a single accountable owner.
Serve as the operating thought partner to the CPO on what's working, what's breaking, and what to do about it.
Oversee Payment and Tap Operations
Oversee the Payment Operations team (KYC, risk reviews, chargebacks, stock gifts, DAF, designated funds, reconciliation), with a focus on automating and instrumenting how the work gets done.
Oversee the Tap Operations team (order processing, vendors, fulfillment, quality control), partnering with Partnerships and Success on demand planning.
Hire and develop a Payment Operations Manager to run the team day to day.
Coordinate SOC 2
Take over coordination of our SOC 2 program — auditor relationship, GRC tooling (Vanta, Drata, or similar), evidence collection, renewal — and automate as much of it as you can. A clean handoff is built into onboarding, and Engineering owns technical security controls.
What You Should Have
6–12 years in strategy and operations, BizOps, RevOps, or a similar operating role, where you owned both what to fix and how it runs day to day.
You build, personally. You've built automation, data workflows, or AI tooling yourself — no-code, low-code, scripting, SQL, or LLM-based workflows. Production code isn't required.
Demonstrably AI-fluent, and able to bring others along. Not "I've used ChatGPT." Show us what you've built, automated, or scaled with AI tools, and how you helped people or teams adopt them. This is non-negotiable.
Experience inside a business function — revenue, product, finance, or operations — working close to the people who use what you build.
Results you can measure: hours saved, cycle time cut, adoption rates, or revenue impact.
Scoping and prioritization instincts. You can take a vague operational pain point and turn it into a clear, scoped problem — whether the answer is a SaaS purchase, a no-code workflow, an AI automation, or a request for engineering help.
Strong analytical and structured thinking — at home in a P&L conversation, a metrics review, and a messy cross-team problem.
Excellent communication and collaboration skills — you'll touch every function in the company.
Alignment with Overflow's mission and values, and comfort with our flexible work model and occasional in-person gatherings.
It'd Be Nice If You Had
Payments, fintech, or billing context: KYC, risk, chargebacks, or reconciliation.
Time inside a SOC 2 program, ideally Type II.
Growth-stage or lean-team experience where you built from scratch; Series B–D SaaS a plus.
Led AI adoption or enablement programs, including training and change management.
Big-tech strategy and operations experience paired with a hands-on building record.
Exposure to nonprofit, faith-based, or mission-driven contexts.
