Job Purpose
The Business Manager – Prestige Fragrance Portfolio is responsible for defining the commercial strategy, driving operational excellence, and managing full P&L for the prestige fragrance portfolio in Vietnam.
Reporting directly to the General Manager, this role leads multi-channel growth across department stores, perfumery chains, boutiques, and digital commerce. The position serves as the primary strategic liaison with global brand principals and regional leadership while leading a team of Channel Managers and Brand Managers to secure market leadership and sustainable profitability.
Key Responsibilities
1. Strategic Planning & Portfolio Architecture
- Formulate multi-year strategic roadmaps and annual commercial plans for the portfolio, translating global brand directives into effective local market strategies.
- Shape portfolio architecture, pricing structure, core franchise prioritization, and assortment planning to maximize market share in the prestige and luxury segments.
- Define distribution expansion strategies across department stores, retail chain networks, freestanding boutiques, and e-commerce.
2. Full P&L & Commercial Management
- Maintain full accountability for the Business Unit P&L, including Net Sales, Gross Margin, budget allocation, operational expenditure, and Net Operating Profit.
- Lead high-level commercial negotiations and joint planning with department stores and perfumery chains regarding commercial terms, trade margins, rebate structures, and prime counter locations.
- Monitor channel profitability, price elasticity, and commercial terms to ensure healthy profit margins across all distribution channels.
3. Principal & Strategic Partner Management
- Act as the strategic local partner for global brand principals and regional management, ensuring alignment with brand equity and international guidelines.
- Lead business alignment sessions, co-investment discussions, and brand reviews with principals and key retail partners.
4. Performance Tracking & Reporting Cadence
- Lead the complete business reporting cadence across all channels to provide visibility to the General Manager, Regional Management, and Brand Principals:
- Daily & Weekly: Review sell-in, sell-out, counter and chain store productivity, digital metrics, and inventory flow to drive fast operational decisions.
- Monthly: Consolidate and lead the Monthly Business Review, analyzing P&L performance, sales targets, channel growth, budget utilization, inventory aging, and market share.
- Quarterly & Yearly: Drive Quarterly Business Reviews with brand principals and lead the Annual Budget and Strategy presentations for future fiscal years.
- Translate market intelligence, competitor movements, and consumer trends into actionable commercial initiatives.
5. Omnichannel Operational Excellence
- Retail & Chain Stores: Collaborate with Channel Managers and Retail Operations to maintain visual merchandising standards, service quality, staff productivity, and VIP clienteling programs across all doors.
- Digital Commerce: Partner with digital teams to expand online brand footprint, optimize performance marketing, and drive omnichannel customer relationship management.
- Supply Chain & Planning: Oversee sales forecasting accuracy, open-to-buy planning, and inventory health to ensure optimal product availability and minimize aged stock.
6. People Leadership & Team Development
- Lead, mentor, and develop Channel Managers, Brand Managers, and support teams.
- Build a high-performance commercial culture focused on accountability, strategic thinking, and seamless cross-functional collaboration.
Requirements
- Experience: Minimum 8 to 10 years of commercial and brand management experience in Prestige Beauty, Luxury, Perfumery, or High-End Retail Chains, including at least 3 to 4 years leading multi-brand portfolios and managing Channel Managers or Brand Managers.
- Financial & Commercial Acumen: Proven expertise in strategic planning, comprehensive P&L management, commercial negotiations with major retail chains, and demand forecasting.
- Analytical & Reporting Skills: Strong track record in structuring and leading business reviews across daily, monthly, and yearly cycles.
- Executive Presence: Strong negotiation and communication skills to influence executive leadership, global brand partners, and key retailers.
- Omnichannel Knowledge: Deep understanding of prestige department stores, retail chains, and digital commerce.
- Languages: Full professional proficiency in English.
