Job Description:
Parsons is seeking a Bridge Project Engineer to join our actively growing team in Indianapolis supporting major transportation infrastructure projects throughout the Midwest!
This role will provide you with the unique opportunity to join a highly-skilled, collaborative, and flexible, team which will allow you to expand in your technical and professional expertise on major projects that will have a tangible impact on the infrastructure in your very own community!
What You'll Be Doing:
- Responsible for project deliverables including transportation design, plans, specifications, and estimates.
- Drive quality management procedures on team
- Ensures that Parsons’ safety procedures are in effect
- Mentors and leads junior staff and engineers on bridge and structure projects
- Strives to obtain maximum INDOT performance scores for scope, schedule, budget, and quality
- Identifies the needs to develop a staffing plan for projects and pursuits including identifying needs for new hires
- Provide support to business development efforts through both technical expertise and business acumen
- Identifies strategic potential candidates to hire and lead recruiting efforts for these key Team hires.
- Identifies and coordinates training needs and requests for their staff.
- Develops career development plans with all direct reports.
- Develops workforce forecasting to identify peaks and valleys of staffing needs
What Required Skills You'll Bring:
- Bachelor’s degree in Civil or Structural Engineering from an accredited institution.
- 10+ years of progressive bridge design and project engineering experience, preferably on Indiana State and regional transportation projects.
- Professional Engineer (PE) license in Indiana (or ability to obtain)
- Demonstrated experience delivering multi‑span steel and concrete bridge projects (new design and/or rehabilitation), including:
- Proven experience managing bridge design and design‑build projects for state DOTs or similar transportation agencies.
- Strong familiarity with relevant state DOT standards, manuals, and standard sheets (and/or other Indiana transportation agency standards).
- Proficiency with bridge and structural design software such as:
- MicroStation (required, or strong equivalent with ability to transition quickly)
- LEAP Bridge (Conspan, RC Pier) or similar
- MDX / Merlin Dash, or equivalent girder design software
- Finite element analysis tools (e.g., LARSA, SAP2000, STAAD, CSI products, or similar).
Desired Qualifications:
- Master’s degree in Structural Engineering.
- Experience with INDOT, or other Indiana–area transportation agencies.
- Experience with OpenBridge Designer, 3D modeling, or BIM for bridges.
- Proven ability to lead multidisciplinary teams, interface directly with clients, and contribute to business development and proposal efforts.
