Smoker & Company LLC is seeking a detail-oriented, service-focused Bookkeeper to join our Client Services team. This full-time role supports client financial success by maintaining accurate records, managing day-to-day bookkeeping functions, providing responsive client service, and meeting with clients as needed to support their accounting and bookkeeping needs. The ideal candidate enjoys bookkeeping work, takes pride in accuracy, and is comfortable working directly with clients and their accounting systems.

What You'll Do
In this role, you will maintain client financial records, manage bookkeeping processes, communicate with clients, and support day-to-day accounting needs so clients stay organized and financially prepared.
Responsibilities
• Bookkeeping: Maintain timely financial records for multiple clients, including transactions, journal entries, and organized accounting records.
• Reconciliations: Reconcile bank, credit card, and balance sheet accounts; review financial information for accuracy; and address discrepancies promptly.
• Accounts payable and accounts receivable: Process and maintain accounts payable and accounts receivable activities, including invoice entry, payment tracking, customer invoicing, and collection support.
• Month-end and year-end support: Complete closing procedures, prepare supporting schedules, and assist in maintaining accurate financial records for reporting and tax preparation purposes.
• Client support: Communicate with clients by phone, email, virtual meetings, and occasional in-person meetings to answer questions, obtain information, and resolve issues.
• Client meetings and travel: Travel to client locations as needed to support bookkeeping services, gather information, review financial records, and maintain strong client relationships.
• Special projects and client assistance: Support clients and team members with bookkeeping-related projects, data organization, cleanup work, reporting requests, and other accounting support tasks as assigned.
• Confidentiality: Maintain confidentiality of client and company information at all times.
Requirements
Preferred Qualifications
• Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, Business, or a related field
• Minimum of three years of hands-on bookkeeping experience
• Experience working in a public accounting firm, bookkeeping service, or multi-client environment
• Experience with QuickBooks Online, QuickBooks Desktop, and other accounting software platforms to maintain live client accounting records
• Strong understanding of accounting principles and bookkeeping practices
• Ability to independently manage bookkeeping responsibilities with minimal supervision while maintaining a high level of accuracy and professionalism
• Strong organizational, time-management, analytical, and problem-solving skills
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills
• Ability to manage multiple client engagements, relationships, and deadlines simultaneously
• Strong attention to detail and accuracy
• Professional demeanor and client-focused attitude
Required Qualifications
• High school diploma or equivalent
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite, including Outlook, Word, and Excel
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team
• Reliable transportation

Compensation & Benefits
Starting salary: $55,000 per year
