Te Tūranga – About the role
This is a highly influential, store-based role where you’ll partner closely with bakery teams to identify business opportunities, develop practical solutions and deliver positive outcomes. Reporting to the Bakery Lead, you’ll use your bakery expertise, commercial understanding and coaching capability to lift operational performance across our stores.
You’ll be responsible for:
- Coaching and mentoring Bakery Team Leaders and their teams to strengthen capability and performance
- Conducting regular store visits, preparing comprehensive business reports and identifying opportunities through business and trend analysis
- Supporting stores to meet health, safety and food safety standards, including expectations set for food retailers and wholesalers
- Completing Technical Sign Offs for Trainee Operators, while supporting new store setups and refurbishments
- Helping stores implement business strategies and improve bakery operations, ranging, sourcing, pricing and promotional activity

He kōrero mōu – About you
You’re an experienced bakery professional who understands what great retail bakery operations look like and knows how to bring others on the journey. You’ll combine operational knowledge with strong communication, commercial thinking and close attention to detail.
You’ll bring:
- Proven experience managing a bakery department in a retail organisation and/or a relevant tertiary qualification
- Experience in business analysis, identifying trends and recognising potential operational issues
- Strong interpersonal, communication, negotiation and mediation skills, along with FMCG experience
- Exposure to operational or fresh food management, including ranging, sourcing, pricing and promotions
- Experience in category management for medium to large merchandise brands, with strong attention to operational detail.
- A full driver’s licence and willingness to travel regularly
