POSITION SUMMARY:

The AVP, Actuarial is a senior actuarial and financial management role responsible for valuation, financial reporting, forecasting, capital and collateral management, business planning, and strategic analysis. The role partners with Finance, Risk, Treasury, Investments, and senior leadership to support sound decision-making and process improvement.

KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES:

• Lead or support actuarial valuation, reserve calculations, and financial reporting processes.
• Develop and maintain actuarial and financial projection models, forecasts, budgets, and management reports.
• Conduct experience studies and analyze their results to provide actionable insights and support data-driven decision-making.
• Monitor business performance and provide analysis of key drivers and variances.
• Support capital, solvency, collateral management activities and reporting.
• Drive automation and process improvements using actuarial and analytical tools.
• Participate in acquisitions, reinsurance transactions, due diligence, and integration activities.
• Support regulatory, auditor, and management reporting requirements.
• Provide technical guidance, stakeholder management, and leadership support across the organization.
• Staffing and recruiting (as required).
• Other ad hoc requirements.

QUALIFICATIONS, SKILLS & EXPERIENCE:

• Bachelor’s Degree in Actuarial Science, Mathematics, Finance, Statistics, or related area.
• FSA, FIA or equivalent required.
• A minimum of 7 years of life (re)insurance experience preferred with a range of experience, including valuation, financial reporting, and modeling.
• Strong understanding of Bermuda Solvency Regime (preferred) or comparable solvency based reserving regime (Solvency II, Canadian IFRS, Cash Flow Testing, etc.)
• Solid foundation of different life and annuity products
• Experience with automation and process improvements, experience in coding such as Python, Databricks preferred.
