Turning Space into a Transportation Layer for Earth

Who We Are:

Inversion builds advanced reentry systems to deliver next-generation capabilities from space.

Our mission is to make Earth radically more accessible by turning Low-Earth Orbit into an on-demand logistics domain. We see space not as a destination, but as a platform — one that unlocks unprecedented speed and global reach.

Our spacecraft are designed to deliver payloads anywhere on Earth in under an hour, operating through extreme reentry conditions and landing with high precision. These systems open the door to new ways of testing, delivering, and operating at hypersonic speeds.

Inherently dual-use, our technology is built to meet urgent national security needs while laying the groundwork for future commercial applications. Backed by leading investors including Y Combinator, Spark Capital, and Lockheed Martin Ventures, and working with partners such as the U.S. Space Force and NASA, Inversion is pushing the boundaries of what’s possible in space-based defense and logistics.

What You'll Do

As an Avionics Integration and Test Technician at Inversion, you will report directly to the Manager of Arc Vehicle Avionics. You will install, integrate, test, and troubleshoot flight avionics hardware on the Arc hypersonic reentry vehicle, including flight computers, power systems, navigation sensors, radios, remote I/O, instrumentation, and electrical harnessing. You will execute detailed build and test procedures, support hardware-in-the-loop (HIL) and vehicle integration campaigns, and work directly with avionics engineers, manufacturing, and vehicle integration teams to deliver reliable, flight-ready electrical systems. This is a hands-on role requiring strong electrical craftsmanship, disciplined execution, and a methodical approach to troubleshooting.

Required Qualifications

  • High school diploma or GED.
  • Typically 2+ years of hands-on experience in avionics integration, electrical assembly, harnessing, electronics testing, or a related aerospace, defense, automotive, robotics, or high-reliability hardware environment.
  • Demonstrated ability to read and work from electrical schematics, wiring diagrams, connector pinout tables, mechanical drawings, work instructions, and test procedures.
  • Hands-on experience with wire preparation, crimping, connector pinning, soldering, cable assembly, and basic harness fabrication or repair.
  • Experience using electrical test equipment such as digital multimeters, oscilloscopes, power supplies, electronic loads, continuity testers, or breakout boxes.
  • Experience performing basic electrical troubleshooting and methodically isolating faults in hardware, harnesses, sensors, or power systems.
  • Familiarity with ESD controls, foreign-object-debris prevention, workmanship standards, and controlled build environments.
  • Strong attention to detail, craftsmanship, documentation discipline, and safe work habits.
  • Ability to work independently from released procedures while escalating discrepancies, safety concerns, and unclear instructions promptly.
  • Ability to lift 50 lbs. unassisted and work in confined or challenging vehicle-integration positions, including standing, kneeling, bending, crawling, and overhead work.
  • Ability to work non-standard shifts, overtime, and weekends as required to support vehicle builds, test campaigns, and flight operations.
  • Demonstrated excellent verbal and written communication skills.

Desired Qualifications

  • Experience integrating avionics for spacecraft, launch vehicles, aircraft, UAVs, tactical systems, or other high-reliability hardware.
  • IPC-A-620, IPC-A-610, J-STD-001, or equivalent wiring, cable-assembly, or soldering certification.
  • Familiarity with aerospace-grade connectors, backshells, shield terminations, coaxial cables, D-sub connectors, circular connectors, and RF cable routing.
  • Experience supporting avionics hardware-in-the-loop testing, vehicle-level electrical checkout, environmental test campaigns, or flight test operations.
  • Familiarity with communication interfaces and protocols such as CAN, Ethernet, RS-422/485, UART, SPI, or I2C.
  • Experience with RF systems, telemetry hardware, antennas, and coaxial cable test or integration.
  • Experience with data acquisition systems, instrumentation installation, sensor calibration, or test-cable fabrication.
  • Familiarity with configuration management, non-conformance documentation, work orders, inventory systems, or aerospace quality systems.
  • Experience using Python or other scripting tools for test automation, data review, or hardware control.
  • Prior experience working in a fast-paced startup, prototype, R&D, or high-mix/low-volume production environment.

Our office headquarters is located in Playa Vista, CA. This position requires in office presence.
