About this Automotive Fixed Operations Director role at Ken Garff

Ken Garff · Onsite · Ken Garff Ford Cheyenne - Cheyenne, WY
Considering a career with Ken Garff Automotive Group means you are in for a great ride (excuse the car metaphor)! We're not your standard dealer group and we are pretty darn proud of that.
Ken Garff Cheyenne is looking for an experienced Fixed Operations Director to lead the service departments at our three stores: Ford, Toyota and Hyundai, about 1,700 repair orders a month combined. Each store has a service manager who owns the department. What the campus does not have yet is one fixed operations leader above all three. The departments are profitable and growing. The opportunity is in the fundamentals that separate a good shop from a great one, and the person who closes that gap will be paid on the result.
Here's why you'll want to work here:
  • Earnings of $240,000 to $340,000+ per year: base salary plus performance pay tied to campus results
  • Great culture and real career growth with one of the largest family owned dealer groups
  • Paid Time Off and 401k with Company match
  • Medical, Dental, Vision, Short and Long-term disability, AD&D and Life Insurance
  • Year-end bonus program for all employees (Garff Giveback)
  • Employee discounts on Vehicle Purchase, Parts, Service and More!
  • Cheyenne: Wyoming's capital, no state income tax, short commutes, 90 minutes to Denver International Airport, and the mountains an easy drive away
Here's what you'll be doing:
  • Own the service results of all three dealerships: gross, net, the annual budgets and the monthly department reviews
  • Lead, coach and develop the three Service Managers so each one runs their own department, presents their own numbers and hits their own documented monthly plan
  • Drive shop performance at every store: effective labor rate, hours per repair order, technician efficiency, inspection completion, tires and commodities, and customer retention
  • Keep Ford, Toyota and Hyundai customer survey scores at or above objective and handle escalated customer, employee and operational situations
  • Serve as the primary liaison with Ford, Toyota and Hyundai factory representatives: warranty compliance, programs, training and certification
  • Support the three Parts Departments in partnership with our Parts Director, so parts grows with service throughput
  • Lead technician recruiting and retention, the apprentice pipeline, and shop safety and regulatory compliance at all three stores
  • Other duties as assigned
Here's what you'll need:
  • 7+ years leading dealership fixed operations, with at least 3 as a Service Director, Fixed Operations Director or multi-store Service Manager
  • A proven record of growing customer pay gross, labor rate and technician productivity, and of building managers, with numbers you can show
  • Fluency in a dealership financial statement: budgets, forecasts, variance and expense control
  • Warranty and OEM program experience; Ford, Toyota or Hyundai background a plus
  • A direct, respectful and calm leadership style; you address problems promptly and in person
  • Advanced computer skills; DMS experience (Dealertrack, CDK or similar).
  • A valid driver's license and a good driving record, per company standards; references upon request
