Job Description Summary

The Department of Speech Pathology and Audiology in the College of Arts and Sciences is seeking a part-time Audiologist to provide clinical services, student supervision and clinical education. Reporting to the Department Chair, the Audiologist supports the mission to advance the Speech Pathology and Audiology department experiential learning across Miami University.
The Audiologist serves as the responsible licensed clinician providing screenings, evaluations and relevant treatment to individuals requiring hearing-related services in the Miami University Speech and Hearing Clinic. In addition, the Audiologist supports the clinical education of undergraduate and graduate students enrolled in the Miami University Speech Pathology and Audiology program.

Job Description

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide direct patient care related to patients with hearing and/or balance disorders including hearing aid selection and fitting.
  • Supervise student clinicians engaged in relevant clinical experiences related to hearing and/or balance disorders - including screening, evaluation and aural rehabilitation
  • Participate in the decision-making process related to service delivery in the audiology program
  • Perform other duties as assigned by the Chair or Director of Clinical Education and Operations

Minimum Qualifications

  • Master’s Degree in Audiology
  • Certificate of Clinical Competence from the American Speech-Language-Hearing Association
  • Licensure in Audiology from the Ohio Board of Speech and Hearing Professionals - or eligibility for said licensure
  • Five years of clinical experience in a clinical setting
  • Demonstrated experience in supervision, hearing screening, comprehensive audiological evaluation, hearing aid selection and fitting, documentation and clinical best practices

Required Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

  • Experience in the use of computer-based audiological equipment and documentation
  • Experience with multiple hearing aid brands
  • Ability to troubleshoot hearing aids and assistive devices
  • Strong counseling skills
  • Ability to provide hearing aids and assistive devices as an adjunct to quality patient care
  • Excellent written, verbal and interpersonal communication skills
  • Commitment to fostering an environment that supports the success of all students, staff and patients served

Preferred Qualifications

  • Earned AuD (Doctorate of Audiology)
  • Experience with clinical precepting (clinical teaching and supervision of students and support staff)
  • Knowledge of third-party and insurance regulations
