Responsibilities
Feature Development: Build and ship well-tested features across the frontend and backend, with guidance and support from senior engineers
Collaboration: Work closely with Product Managers, Designers, and other Engineers in an agile environment to deliver features and enhancements
Code Quality: Write clean, readable, and tested code; participate actively in code reviews and incorporate feedback
Learning & Growth: Ramp up quickly on Ontic's tech stack and domain, and seek out feedback and mentorship to accelerate your development
Debugging & Troubleshooting: Investigate and resolve bugs and issues, escalating and collaborating with senior engineers as needed
Participation: Contribute ideas and perspective in technical design discussions for the features you work on
Required Qualifications
Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field (or equivalent practical experience)
0–2 years of professional, internship, or project experience in software engineering, with exposure to both backend and frontend development
Some familiarity with Java, Spring Boot, and database technologies such as MongoDB (coursework, internship, or project experience is welcome)
Basic understanding of RESTful APIs
Working knowledge of JavaScript, HTML/CSS, and React fundamentals
Exposure to modern JS tooling (npm/Webpack) and a willingness to grow into TypeScript, state management (Redux/Zustand/React Query), and testing (Jest)
General Skills:
Solid foundational problem-solving and analytical ability
Understanding of Git and collaborative development workflows
Familiarity with, or interest in learning, CI/CD and cloud environments (AWS/GCP/Azure)
Mindset:
Strong curiosity and eagerness to learn new technologies and domains
Receptive to feedback and coaching, with a growth-oriented attitude
Collaborative, detail-oriented, and dependable
