Summary of This Role 

Works throughout the software development life cycle and performs in a utility capacity to create, design, code, debug, maintain, test, implement and validate applications with a broad understanding of a variety of languages and architectures.  Analyze existing applications or formulate logic for new applications, procedures, flowcharting, coding and debugging programs.  Maintains and utilizes application and programming documents in the development of code.  Recommend changes in development, maintenance and system standards.  Creates appropriate deliverables and develops application implementation plans throughout the life cycle in a flexible development environment. 

Job Summary 

We are looking for an experienced Senior Apigee Developer & Admin/Operations Engineer with strong hands-on expertise in Apigee X/Edge, API development, platform administration, security, monitoring and operations. 

The role will be responsible for the end-to-end API lifecycle, including API proxy development, integrations, deployments, platform administration, monitoring, troubleshooting, security, governance and production support. 

What Part Will You Play? 

• Develops moderately complex code using both front and/or back-end programming languages within multiple platforms as needed in collaboration with business and technology teams for internal and external client software solutions.  Designs, creates, and delivers moderately complex program specifications for code development and support on multiple projects/issues with a wide understanding of the application / database to better align interactions and technologies. 

• Provides broad and in-depth knowledge of analysis, modification, and development of complex code/unit testing to develop concise application documentation. Performs and advises on testing, validation requirements, and corrective measures for complex code deficiencies and provides systemic proposals. 

• Participates in any client facing meetings, joint venture discussions, vendor partnership teams to determine solution approaches. 

• Provides advice to leadership on the design, development and enforcement of business / infrastructure application standards to include associated controls, procedures and monitoring to ensure compliance and accuracy of data. Applies a full understanding and in-depth knowledge of procedures, methodology and application standards to include Payment Card Industry (PCI) security compliance. 

• Develops, administers and recommends billable hours and resource estimates on complex initiatives, projects, and issues. 

• Assists with on-the-job training and provides in-depth expertise and advice to software engineers. 

What Are We Looking for in This Role? 

Key Applicant Requirements (Skills/Knowledge/Experience/Qualifications) 

• 5-8 years of strong development background in Apigee Technologies 

• As an Apigee developer, He or She needs to focus on designs, develops, and manages API proxies within the Apigee platform, ensuring their security, scalability, performance, and integration with other systems. 

• Will be responsible for the entire API lifecycle from initial planning, design and implementation of new security systems and architecture monitoring, troubleshooting, and optimization.  

• Additionally, responsible for API governance policies, best practices, and security standards by collaborating with development team and monitor API health and performance 

• ​Define API standards, guidelines, and best practices for development teams. 

• Collaborate with stakeholders to gather requirements and translate them into API solutions. 

• Evaluate existing API infrastructure and recommend improvements. 

• Strong analytical, planning, and organizational skills with an ability to manage competing demand 

• Excellent communication skills, verbal and written; should be able to collaborate across business teams (stakeholders) and other technology groups as needed. 

• Exposure to Payments industry is a plus 

Key Responsibilities 

API Development & Integration 

• Design, develop and maintain API proxies, shared flows and reusable API components using Apigee X/Edge. 

• Implement security, traffic management, authentication/authorization, rate limiting and quota policies. 

• Develop API integrations with backend applications and services, including JSON/XML transformation and customized integration logic. 

• Implement logging, observability, fault handling and API performance optimizations. 

• Support REST/SOAP API integration and OpenAPI/Swagger specifications. 

Apigee Administration & Security 

• Administer Apigee organizations, environments, deployments and platform configurations. 

• Manage IAM, roles, permissions and access controls across Apigee environments. 

• Configure and maintain Keystores, Target Servers and KVMs. 

• Manage certificates, certificate renewals, CSR generation and security-related operational activities. 

• Support IP blacklisting and security/governance requirements. 

Apigee Operations & Support 

• Monitor API traffic, availability, latency, errors and overall platform health. 

• Configure and maintain dashboards, alerts, metrics and API analytics. 

• Troubleshoot API and platform issues and provide production incident support. 

• Perform root cause analysis and drive corrective/preventive improvements. 

• Support incident, change and deployment activities.
