About this Associate Manager, Field Planning & Execution (Remote) role at Insulet

Insulet · Onsite · US - California

Job Summary

This is an excellent opportunity for someone who loves being at the center of the action and driving business impact without carrying a direct sales quota. As the Manager, Field Planning & Execution, you'll serve as the operational quarterback for Insulet's commercial organization, partnering with Sales, Marketing, Training, Analytics, and leadership teams to turn strategic priorities into real-world execution. You'll lead cross-functional planning, manage high-visibility commercial pilots, gather and translate field insights into actionable recommendations, and help shape how future initiatives are scaled across the business. This role is ideal for a strong project manager and strategic thinker who thrives in a fast-paced, highly collaborative environment, enjoys influencing senior stakeholders, and wants the opportunity to directly improve the effectiveness of a national sales organization while helping bring innovative diabetes solutions to more patients. It's a unique chance to combine strategy, operations, analytics, and innovation while gaining broad exposure across Insulet's commercial leadership team.

The Manager, Field Planning & Execution is a senior individual contributor responsible for running the day-to-day operating cadence for integrated field planning and assigned commercial pilots across U.S. Field and Inside Sales. Reporting to the Senior Manager, Field Innovation & Pilot Execution, this role translates approved priorities into executable plans, coordinates cross functional workstreams, maintains roadmap and governance discipline, and turns field and performance insights into practical recommendations.

The role owns planning, coordination, issue resolution, reporting, and follow through for assigned work while influencing partners without formal authority. The Senior Manager retains accountability for portfolio direction, prioritization, executive alignment, and final recommendations.

Core Responsibilities:

Integrated Field Planning and Roadmap Management

  • Manage intake for field-facing commercial initiatives: clarify incoming requests, assess field effort and customer impact, and size and sequence work for cross-functional decision.
  • Facilitate recurring planning forums and publish concise decisions, actions, owners, and next steps.
  • Maintain the roadmap of record, including timing, reach, dependencies, sustainment needs, and change impact, and coordinate with initiative owners to keep status current.
  • Prepare analysis for planning discussions, including capacity risks and sequencing considerations.
  • Contribute to prioritization criteria, effort scoring, and intake tools that keep planning decisions consistent and transparent for requesting teams.

Field Pilot Coordination and Execution

  • Coordinate the field side of innovation pilots from launch planning through closeout, including participant and territory selection, onboarding, field communication, and cadence management.
  • Confirm roles, responsibilities, dependencies, and success measures with cross-functional owners before a pilot goes live.
  • Surface execution barriers early and recommend solutions that protect customer experience, field capacity, and measurement quality.
  • Keep pilot teams aligned on timelines, decisions, and open questions as scope evolves.

Field Insight and Advisory Input

  • Coordinate with sales leadership and field sales teams to gather structured input on initiatives, pilots, and field-facing programs.
  • Support field advisory forums, surveys, and other feedback channels, ensuring requests have clear objectives and are routed through the appropriate channel.
  • Synthesize qualitative field feedback into concise themes, implications, and recommendations.
  • Connect field learning to planning decisions, pilot design, operational improvements, and future commercial initiatives.

Measurement, Reporting and Recommendations

  • Partner with cross-functional teams to operationalize measures, data requirements, reporting cadences, and qualitative feedback plans.
  • Monitor progress against approved measures and surface data-quality, workflow, or role-overlap issues that could affect interpretation.
  • Synthesize results, field feedback, customer experience, and commercial outcomes into clear recommendations to scale, adapt, combine, or stop an approach.
  • Build readouts and decision materials for cross-functional partners and leadership.

Cross-Functional Ways of Working

  • Lead day-to-day coordination across Field Marketing, HCP Marketing, Consumer Marketing, Sales Leadership, Training & Clinical Business, Global Sales & Clinical Training, Medical, Data Science and Insights, Sales Effectiveness, and Sales Operations teams.
  • Establish repeatable ways of working built on common definitions, timelines, measures, and governance standards.
  • Clarify ownership, decision points, handoffs, and escalation paths for shared work, and escalate unresolved risks or ownership gaps.
  • Identify opportunities to simplify work, reduce duplication, and protect customer-facing field time.

Education and Experience:

Minimum Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s degree in marketing, Business, Communications, Analytics, Healthcare, or a related discipline
  • 4+ years of progressive experience in sales, marketing, commercial strategy, sales operations, program management, innovation, analytics, or a related commercial discipline
  • Demonstrated ownership of a recurring cross-functional planning process, governance forum, or program, including agenda, decisions, and follow-through
  • Proven experience managing complex, cross-functional projects or commercial pilots with responsibility for planning, execution, measurement, and stakeholder alignment
  • Demonstrated ability to work independently, exercise judgment, and recommend best practices in a matrixed organization
  • Experience developing senior leadership-ready updates, recommendations, presentations, and decision materials

Preferred Experience:

  • Experience in medical device, pharmaceutical, biotechnology, diabetes technology, health tech, or another regulated healthcare environment
  • Experience working with a large field sales organization or customer-facing commercial team
  • Experience with advisory boards, voice-of-customer programs, qualitative research, or survey design
  • Experience with integrated planning, portfolio or roadmap management, intake workflows, or program governance
  • Experience with pilot design, test-and-control approaches, or commercialization initiatives

Skills and Competencies:

  • Advanced, specialized depth and breadth of expertise used to develop or improve complex commercial models, processes, and procedures
  • Experience with advisory boards, voice-of-customer programs, qualitative research, or survey design
  • Experience with integrated planning, portfolio or roadmap management, intake workflows, or program governance
  • Experience with pilot design, test-and-control approaches, or commercialization initiatives
  • Strong facilitation skills and comfort leading discussion with sales leaders and senior cross-functional stakeholders, including managing disagreement in the moment
  • Ability to analyze quantitative and qualitative information and convert findings into practical business recommendations
  • Strong prioritization judgment, with the ability to surface trade-offs, recommend sequencing, and explain decisions clearly to senior stakeholders
  • Strong project-management capability, including work planning, dependency management, risk tracking, issue resolution, and executive reporting
  • Ability to influence and align stakeholders across functions without formal authority
  • Ability to create structure in ambiguous or evolving environments and establish repeatable processes
  • Familiarity with the tools used to run this work, including Smartsheet, Microsoft Forms and Teams, Salesforce, and Power BI or comparable reporting platforms
  • Excellent written, verbal, facilitation, and presentation skills
  • Ability to manage several concurrent workstreams independently with different partners, cadences, and stakeholders while maintaining attention to detail and follow-through

Physical Requirements (if applicable):

  • Will be required to travel approximately 25% for field advisory meetings, pilot observation, field engagement, customer or field visits, leadership meetings, commercial events, and sales meetings.
